Staggered tire sizes

I have the 18" OEM wheels with the 225 45/18R (front) and the 245 45/18R (rear) setup and it looks like I might be needing new tires soon. Is there a reason why the tire sizes are staggered?

The reason I ask is: could one buy the same size tires for the front and rear? That way you could rotate the tires, thus spreading the wear more evenly.

OEM tire fitment.............

Yea, that's the way all the Gs came from factory.....no sweat you can go
with the 245s on all four corners with no issues. Just don't buy cheap tires
stick with quality like Michelins....Goodyears or BFGs!

Is this for a 2007 G35? 18x8.5 rear and 18x7.5 front?

If so, I am not sure I would want techs breaking down tires off of my rims for regular rotation.

Any experience I have had with tire changes or rotation has resulted in scratched or gouged rims. They just aren't very careful when removing the tires or torqueing the lugs.

More handling could result in more damage.

Or maybe you have a great tech who keeps it clean.

Just something to think about...

That can't be right. The VDC has to be taking into account the stock stagger when its deciding if the rear wheels are slipping or not.

I would think you need to keep the stagger as close as possible to stock (2.656% difference) to avoid the VDC from being triggered.

Can anyone confirm or deny my suspicions?

Is anyone succesfully running the same size tire at all 4 corners on a Coupe with no VDC issues?

Not sure about teeh coupe, but this size is working fine on my 04 sedan. I just bought a set of Z Track wheels, with the stock tires. I put them on, as is, to see if there were any issues, and so far the VDC has not done anything crazy. I will however be going to more equal sizes in the next couple of weeks.
So all things being eqaul, I have gone from same size to staggered, I would have to believe it would work the other way as well. Only a guess though.

Are the Z Track wheels both 18x8.5 front AND rear?

Would I be able to run 245/45/18 on all four corners and not rub fenders if offset is ET45?

What about look, does anyone have a side shot of a G sedan with 18x8.5's with 245/45's on all four corners?

I have a set of Nismo Altima wheels in 18x8.5 and I want to run staggered 235/45 front and 245/45 rear, but no one makes a 235/45 with a matching 245/45

i know i could run 225/45 front, but would that make the sidewall too thin on an 18x8.5?

You are 100% correct. gary c is wrong. The difference in OD front to back is something like 1" and should be maintained. If you want to run the same size front to rear, you could go with 245/40/18 front and 245/45/18 rear. This sizing will maintain the stagger, it will however lessen the understeer, something some folks find comforting.
