No more winter tire talk!!

Spring is less than 2 days away!!!!

I've got 8k the RS-A's and will be looking for a set of good summer rubber and possibly some wheels.

My first thought regarding tires is the Kumho ECSTA ASX (I know they're all season, but I heard LOTS of good things about these tires). Not sure yet about wheels. Anyone know the weight of the stock wheels for the x? Would a lighter or heavier wheel provide better handling/feel/performance? I don't have much experience with after market wheels. Always stuck with stock.

Lets hear some suggestions!

SIMMA DAHN NAH!!!

Wheels: I think the general concensus is you want something lighter, I personally didnt pay much (any) attention to weight as I dont think I am THAT good of a driver that a few pounds are going to help or harm me. With that said, there are lots are varying styles on this forum that others have put on their cars. I would not suggest a staggered setup as I have on mine since you have an X. You would optimally want to keep all 4 tires/wheels identical. Pick out some styles you like, 5 spoke, split spokes, mesh (the best), and finishes and start from there. Check out the aftermarket wheel thread that is stickied in the "picture share" sub forum if you have not already done so.

Tires: depending on wheel size selection 18s, 19s, 20s, 26s (with a lift kit of course) you will want to use a tire size calculator (can be found in stickys, I think) to keep the overall diameter of your tires as close as stock as possible. I would try to stay close to stock anyways, as to not mess up the telemetry of the car.

Springs: Then you have to decide if you want to lower the car a little to take away the fender gap between above your hot new wheels and tires. This isnt as popular on the X as it would lessen your apparently needed ground clearance, there are some options out there if you desire to research them.

Good day sir.

I believe I have earned my right to go OT to respond to you...

I am SICK of snow, and could do without rain for a while, I want a clean car too!

The Kumho ECSTA ASX are super good for the price of them. A lighter wheel would obviously be better for handling/feel/ and performance.

I know I get a little worked up, but the end of winter is here!!!

And right after I get back from Vegas this weekend, I'm gonna be all over this summer tire thing!

Just looking for some thoughts as to which tread people prefer on their G's.

Geeez... I am running Falken F452s. They seem to be pretty decent so far and fairly popular from what I can tell. Tires should be the easy part, the wheels will drive you CRAZY!

I ran the ASXs on my Z and loved them. Great tire and frankly you cant find a better tire for the price. I ran the hell out of them for two years and never had a single issue. Got through the winter here just fine on the RS-As though, I have no complaints about them.
