The only catch there is that only the base-model, cloth, no-option cars come with the 16" tires. Most of them come with 215/55R17. One would hope Infiniti didn't tune the cars to the tires that are only available on a small number of vehicles. Although, if that's the case, then it appears that 225/55R17 would be a better alternate tire size. That's a good thing, since I plan to go to that size anyway... it's the only size with a decent selection of summer rubber available. (Pole Position's and Eagle F1's)

I don't think that they tuned it to 16" wheels so much as they tuned it to a 26.5" diameter. Both the 16's and the 215/55/17's fall within the 3% rule. The 16's just come closer to that number (26.49), where the 17's are 26.31. Either way, they both work. And it is good to know that the 225/55/17's are also in range. However, Town Fair Tire (a New England franchise) tried to sell me 225/50/17's. Apparently they are not aware of the 26.5" diameter that Nissan recommends. (Unless, of course, Tire Rack is pulling my chain), but I doubt that.
