ebc better than brembo pads?

I dont like the brake dust but im more worried about peformace. I have a 6mt. If i change my pads to ebc will i get a better performace or the same or worse than the oem brembo pads i have.

BTW: how much are the ebc pads going for for front and rear? and how much are replacments for brembos pads?

I don't have the brembos but after changing to EBC Greenstuff from factory pads, there was less dust but performance slightly decreased.

Re: ebc better than brembo pads?

they are better. I have the Brembos and performance is a little better, with much less brake dust.

Re: ebc better than brembo pads?

Plainly put - If you got brake dust, your brakes are working! In performance terms, the less brake dust you have, the less the pad itself is actually "wearing" which means you're actually getting less braking power.

The wear and "brake dust" is a direct result of full pad on rotor contact. Pads that advertise less brake dust, will compromise braking. That's the final answer, no matter what anyone tells ya!

The pads material and its content also plays a HUGE role on stoping power and brake dust. The better the pad (in terms of stopping power) the quicker you will eat up your rotors and these are the ones that will make all sorts of noises.

When in comes to brake pads, you cant have your cake and eat it to. If you want awesome stopping power, then ya gotta live with the brake dust...

wouldn't the material of the brake pads also determine how much brake dust occurs?

Re: ebc better than brembo pads?

The black brake dust that sticks to the wheels is graphite (carbon). "Standard" and semi-metallic pads are made primarily of graphite. The harder semi-metallic pads result in less dust, they wear more slowly, but have poorer friction at low temperatures (generally better friction at high temperatures, which is why racers use them). Kevlar pads (EBC), use kevlar (a sythetic material) instead of graphite. As they wear, there is some dust produced, but its light colored and doesn't tend to stick to the wheels. I started using kevlar pads on my A4 five years ago, because of the brake dust from the OEM pads. I first tried semi-metallics, but took them off, because of effectively not having brakes when you started out on cold mornings and they weren't great in wet either. The EBC pads were better than OEM at all temperatures and in wet and basically no visable dust. I've considered ceramic pads, but the data of friction factor (ff) vs. temperature from the one manufacturer that published it, shows significant reduction of ff below 40 degrees F.
