Yea, offsets and hub rings are two totally different things.

Offset is the distance between the area of contact where the rim and the hub meet in relation to the centerline of the rim barrel.

Hub rings are actual rings that fit over the center circular flange of the hub. They're basically used to fill up the empty space between the center bore of the rim and the circular center hub.

Work (and most aftermarket rims companies) do not make rims that are bore specific to any certain car. They usually make them larger then the stock bore size to accomodate a larger number of cars. Because of this, its always recommended to use hub rings, this way the rim is kept centered on the hub as you install the lugs.

thanks for the info.

So i have to basically take my stock rim (or spare rim) and aftermarket rim to a wheel shop and have them manufacture a ring to fit right?

No no no not at all. Most rim places should already have the hub rings premade. They come in different sizes, you just have to tell them the correct size you need. To get the correct hub ring you need to know two values, the bore size of the hub and the bore size of the rim.

Nissan/Infiniti center hub bore size is 66.1mm

You just need to find out what the bore size is for the Work rim you are buying. Its probably pretty standard, I'd give Work a call or ask the guy you are buying the rims from.

the VS-XX is either 70mm or 73mm so correct me if I am wrong but I would use a set of 73-66.1 rings to ensure a perfect fit on the vehicle.

well i got screwed today lol. wasted a day.

stock rims 17 x 7 +45mm
vsxx 19 x 8.5 +42mm

rear wheels cleared brakes easily. front wheels (both) were touching the brakes so i had to unmount them and go back to stock.

I was told I need a spacer now. Im running hub centric rings and I thought that's all I need for my non brembos but I was wrong.

I can get a 7mm spacer by tomorrow so should I be fine with that? The installer said I would need around 3-4mm spacer.

BTW - How do I calculate what spacer size I need?

btw using http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

It says for Suspension:
Package is 12 mm (0.5'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

You have stock brakes and the wheels rub the brakes in the front??? Wow, that's weird. Sorry if I gave you bad information. See if you can get a 5mm spacer. The 7mm will probably work but you want to keep the spacers as small as possible.

The spokes on the new wheel are touching the caliper (i think thats what you call the part with the arrow pointing to).

clint, what pad did you order on the front? Those should fit with no problems in that offset. A 5mm spacer will do and you'll still be able to use the stock studs. Lets get a pic of the wheels!
