Replacing all 4 tires for 1 damaged tire?

As the title says, do you need to replace all 4 tires, if say the sidewall is damaged for one tire and needs to be replaced. About 7k miles on the tires so far. Is it really neccessary to get a full set? or can I slide it by with just one fresh tire.

+1. Just replace the bad one. At most, I'd replace the 2 that are on the same axle, if you're afraid of inconsistent wear between the two tires.

according to your signature, you don't drive a G35X, so you don't have to replace all four when you replace one. take it to a tire shop and have them measure the tread depth and compare to a new tire. i believe if the difference is less than 1/10 you dont' have to replace in pairs either. what i know is that the lsd will have a hard time determining if the tire is slipping due to the different diameters/spin rate of the tires with different diameters. its cheaper to replace a tire than to replace the lsd later.

Its all depends on how old the tires are...If the tires are below 40% then I would change both tires...If the tires are fairly new...I would replace just one...

^^^Spare are only designed for temporary cases...If you look on the tire it has a speed rating...You should go over a certain speed limit. If you wear the spare down you will need to replace that too and the new tire...

The Coupe can't really use the temp for other than emergencies. The 06 and earlier sedans can use the optional full size spare.
