I'm putting these tires on my front wheels. Notice how the tread design is reversed from one side of the car to the other. Is that anything that could affect performance, especially in wet weather? Are other tires designed this way?

Yep, that's the way many tires are designed. More rubber on the outside edge for better dry grip, and more void in the inside for hydroplaning resistance.

 

Yeah, that's good, but how about the grooves - not the 4 deep ones that run all the way around the tire, but the small ones that are designed to push water away from the center of the tire? These ARE high perf summer tires so I guess that's not much of a consideration when they design the tread, and that's okay.

I was just curious because when these tires are rolling down the pavement on opposite sides of the car, one side of the car has the grooves rolling one way, and the other side has them going the other way. No big deal, I guess.

I thought some tires are directional? It looks like you got two "right tires" or "left tires"? Probably won't matter. . .but now I'm curious too.
