Advice on what to do about my tires
So my rear Pilot Sport A/S were worn down to the wear-bars.. (At least the center band was)... So I got new tires for the rear. I bought Bridgestone Potenza RE960 A/S in 275/40-18 to replace the same sized Pilots.
I just got 4 of them for my wife's TL, and she loves them. Claims that the performance is much improved over stock....
My story is quite the opposite. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S I have on my fronts (245/40-18) still have TONS of tread left.
Anyways, today was the first time I was able to drive the car since getting them installed last weekend. So I was getting off an exit, that had a sweeping exit curve... I don't think I was even going that fast, and it felt like the back end kept stepping out... I was like, "WTF?". I kept going, then I saw the VDC blinking....
Hmmm... When I got to Home Depot, I checked my tire pressure, and noticed the Potenzas were up to 38psi... So I lowered them back to 35.5psi, like I always keep my tires.
On my way back home, I took another freeway exit, that I ALWAYS took at 60mph, but the car didn't feel right, so I only took it at 50.
Then when I got to the banked curve near my house, I took it at 40. It made the turn, but as soon as I completed it, VDC blinked, and I heard a grinding noise from my front left. (I'm guessing it was braking the front-left).
So anyways, I'm scared to drive my car like this, and I need to do something...
Do you think the Potenza's suck compared to my Pilot Sport A/S, or do you think that the VDC is flipping out because I have Potenzas on the rear and Pilot Sports on the fronts?
With that being the case... Should I return the Potenzas and install Pilot Sport A/S, or should I replace my front Pilot Sports with Potenzas?
I was going by Tire Rack survey, which had the 960AS ahead of the Pilots, so I thought they should handle better. I also liked the 40,000 mile warranty, since the pilot sport A/S on my rears only lasted 20k miles.
I have no idea what I should do.... Help

I just went to tire rack, and compared the Pilot Sport A/S to the Potenza RE960AS.
The Pilot Sport A/S I had before, had an overal diamter of 26.6" or 777 revs per mile... The potenzas have an overal diameter of 26.7" or 780 revs per mile... Is that enough to screw up the VDC?

It's because you have the Michelins on the front, Bridgestone's dont play nice when you mix them with other brands, i have first hand knowledge of this as i work for Bridgestone and have tested it on my own car. I had pilots up front as well and switched to The 960's, the slip light went crazy even getting on an on-ramp at 40 i used to take at 70. So i figured it was the 960's, changed to the 750's and the same thing happened. The 960's are a great tire if you're running it all around, i was a bit weary the first time i was going on a canyon run with them, but they never let go of the road once, i was quite happy and surprised.

bright!
