Winter Tires - 17" ASA KA3's

Here are some photos of my winter tires. They are 17" ASA KA3. The tires are Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50. I chose the rims because they fit over my Brembo's. The tires are o.k. When you drive above 80 MPH they feel kind of scary.
My car is a 6-Speed MT. The color is Desert Platinum.
The photo was taken on January 28, 2004. Around 1:00 PM.

your tires and rims look great!!!! LOL
2 quick questions:
1) where did you go to purchase this set up ..tire rack etc.
2) did you think about the blizzak L22's tires as well
I could sure use some advice on this subject..living in the northeast and all this snow...makes it real hard to get around on the michelin pilots!!!!! thank for your help and once again LOL...2old4this

Why is it that when driving above 80mph, the car/tires feel kinda scary? Road noise? Or, too much steering wheel feedback?

Very nice. I have same wheels + Pirelli Winter 210 Snow Sports. I posted some pics before. 17" ASA KA3 wheels look pretty good (for the $), clear brembos and don't get very dirty.
Mine feel very solid even at 100+ mph (somebody told me :-). Do you feel steering wheel vibrations ? What is the tire pressure ?

I have the same rim with Blizzak LM22's - I have no fear on snow now. They also feel great at higher "dry" speeds. I purchased from Tire Rack - the def. know there stuff!

i've gone over 90 mph and i've been fine. Check your torque on your lug nuts too.. that may cause some vibration

When I drove away from Bridgestone with my LM-22's my car was shaking at speeds above 60. turned out that the tires werent properly balanced.

p.s. As I sit and look out my window at my car...it just isn't the same sexy beast with 17's on it. Can't wait to put my 18's back on their.

Re: Winter Tires - 17" ASA KA3's

I didn't get the LM-22's because they cost more. The WS-50's are only rated up to 100 MPH. They are good snow tires. They get noisy when you go above 60 MPH. After 80 MPH they feel like you are driving on marshmallows. They are just really super soft squishy tires that’s all. After I wear out these tires I might try the LM-22's. It will be a few years.

Here is the link for the WS-50’s

Re: Winter Tires - 17" ASA KA3's

I got the Rims and Tires from a company called Discount Tire in Orem Utah.
http://www.discounttire.com

This is strange. I printed out a price quote from Tire Rack and Discount Tire beat their price. Then they end up ordering the RIMs and Tires from Tire track. They said that they purchase alot of tires and rims from them.
