Need new tires, less than 14K miles?

Had my car inspected today and the tech told me my rear tires need to be replaced already! I've heard the Michelin Pilot Sports were soft, but I do not drive my G that hard, don't track it, don't street race, so what's up? Are you guys finding the same thing? What are you replacing your tires with? I'm guessing NOT with more Michelin PS's at $280 a pop. I've had Yoko AVS's and Kumho 712's on my 911 and have been satisfied with both. Thanks for the info!

yeah, i have 8900 miles, they are worn unevenly and 15k miles would be a miracle. Michelins suck, they are by far the worst tire I have ever owned.

I haven't been able to get much info on replacment sizes & brands for them...

this is what my rear tires were like at around 14k miles. i only goty 17k miles out of them. i just replaced all 4 tires on tuesday with Potenza S-03. sofar the car rides 20 times better than the pilots but then again the pilots were worn.

I just replaced my Pilots with Pilot A/S. My factory tires have 11k on them with 5/32" left. I drove them pretty hard (several burnouts, chirp 2nd a few times a week for the last 8 months, etc.).
