Yokohama S-Driver

Anyone had any experiences with the Yokohama S-Drive tires, TireRack does not have any reviews or surveys on it, its an ultra high performance summer tire, i was just wandering how it would fair in the rain/light snow. either way they have to be better than the Potenzas

No ultra-high perf summer tire will do well in light snow. The problem is not just the precipitation, it's the temperature. When temps drop below 45F, the soft rubber gets harder, and loses much of its grip. All-seasons and snow tires use a different rubber compound.

I am looking closely at using theYokohama S-Drive for replacement for my EL42s. My EL42s are noisy with 25K miles on them. I am looking at the 235 50 17 as the replacements.

Sorry, but I am no help on the snow tire issue.

I have a few friends who work at discount tire and they said people have been happy with them so far.

Again, forget the snow, lower temps cause summer tires to harden, greatly reducing their traction. Rain won't be fun either. You can probably "get by" but you'll have some scary days when the temps drop below 40-45.

It sounds like a good tire, but I am very skeptical of reviews from magazines and retailers...
