8.5/9.5 or 9.5/10.5???

So I've noticed alot of people who get aftermarket wheels tend to go 9.5 front and 10.5 rear, but I've seen some who go 8.5 front and 9.5 rear.

What the thinking behind this?

price, get 9.5/10.5 if you can afford it. Better offsets and lip sizes in most cases with the wider wheels.

Nice, didn't know if there was a performance difference. Friggin wish they made the GTU's in 19's.

What tire size y'all get with 19/9.5 and 19.10.5?

You should try to see what a 10.5 in rear compared to a 9.5 in rear is on the particular wheels you want. Some 10.5 in rear wheel offsets stick out too much for my taste.

Also, some of the tires 285/35 are almost $100 more than 275/35. Make sure you know the price differences of the sizes in the brand and make you want. A lot of people put 275/35 tires on their 10.5 rear, which is the size that almost all people with 9.5 in rears. Therefore your contact patch is the same. If you're not willing to pay for the 285/35 tires, Make sure the look of 275/35 tires stretched over the 10.5's is ok with you, or if the extra inch of lip is worth having over the look of the tire walls stretched over. It's not really that bad, but if you're **** about car things like I am it may make a difference to you.

I'd always go with the wider option. Bigger lip, looks better, you can safely run wider tires, and on and on....

Best set up IMO, which i haven't seen is:

19 x 8.5 245/35/19
19 x 10.5 295/30/19

I honestly don't think there is ANY need for a 9.5 in the front...infact there isnt. It is just extra weight that slows your car down.

wider is better. more rubber on teh ground means more contact patches. I think wider looks nicer as well.

Just doesnt make much sence to me...why do it? Look at some of the fastest cars on the road...Mercedes SLR Mclaren, ferrari F50, porsche 911 turbo, BMW M5.

Look at their tire set ups:

http://www.supercars.net/Comp?source...-639-2398-3429

The only one to use a rim wider than an 8.5 is the SLR Mclaren and they use a 9.0 rim. They all have fat tires in the rear because thats where the power is obviously going....so that should just. Rear wheel driver cars usually have problems controling the rear...not the front. So why use a rediculously wide rim and tire combo on the front?

Those cars are designed around that setup though, such a wide stagger difference front and rear will cause our cars to have a tendency to understeer significantly more.
