Quote: So it's not smart to do. Okay that one is settled.

Sure error by a size or two? I'll concede that. but running a 245 on something like a 10.5" wheel?? That ain't "erroring" on the safe side. That's downright dangerous. That's like running 3 lugs vs 5.
245? thats being generous, what about the ones running 225/235's on 10.5's

When it comes down to it...
It just depends on what "style" your going for...In other words, its all just a matter of opinion and personal style.

On that 240, stretch was the way to go to obviously accommodate those massively wide wheels but also to fit the fenders nicely, and of course the amount its been lowered I'm sure it prevents it from scratching or making contact.
BTW, That is one sick 240!!

225 on a 9" and 265 on a 10" isn't really much of a stretch, a 265 has a section width of ~10.5" already.

Quote: It's a fad and does alot of neat things. Like damaging the tire bead by mounting the tire on an unapproved sized wheel. Looks like someone couldn't afford the right sized tires. And last and not least, it's great for curbing the jack out of your wheels anytime you park.
+1 god stretched tires look like ****. I vent about this everything someone wants to even put a 275 tire on a 10.5 rim!!!! It looks cheap as hell! Its complete danger to the car and so much more. Why sacrafice a 35K car on a stretched tire!!!!

It looks to wide? Shut up! Why did you buy an 11 inch rim if you were conserned about how wide the tires were going to look? Buy an 8 inch rim with a huge offset and put the correct tire on it or does that look to wide as well? Get a bicycle tire if you want thin.

With a thick sidewall yeah 35 or even 40.

The correct size should be 295/30/19 depending on the size of the rim (i used 19).

The current sport compact car mag has a little bit on stretched tires. it's on the first section where people mail in their questions to the staff. very comprehensive answer, but the answer is geared towards drifting and having stretched tires actually makes more sense for what they do.
