Tire Noise?

I dunno maybe it's been a while since i freaked out about something, but i read on here that our tires (well at least stock) are noisy, and not that great. So i had to take an unusually long drive today and granted the roads aren't that smooth around here and i took into consideration that the ride is stiffer now with the s techs but the road noise was INSANE... is there anyway to reduce it.. i just heard way more than i needed to.. at 80mph.. i know replacing the tires are a big, if not the biggest, fix in this situation but i don't wanna change tires till i get me some rims that way i can just do everything at once.. but i had spacers in mind, then rotors, then pads.. dammit ><.. it's driveable don't get me wrong but to put up with it for about 2 hours *there and back* and no music... *that's another story* i usually drive with music prolly why i don't feel it as much.. but yea.. any help/input will b greatly appreciate.

thanks

I've noticed my tires are particularly loud without music, but with it I hardly notice them. I've actually got 3 of 4 tires mildly out of round, but once I get over 30mph it's not really noticeable. Are you running the stock PS2's?

Tires would be the most obvious fix, but if you don't drive on highways much I'd save the money and put it towards your wheels/tires fund. If you do drive on highways a lot, I'd just jam to music and still wait it out.

the road noise sucks... just buy an aftermarket sound system.. that should fix the problem..

so it's not only me then?.. everyone does know what the hell im talking about.. which tires are the best.. i hear falkens make some of least noisy tires. however i haven't heard of falkens being good performance.. or am i mistaken? i don't mind tires being a tad loud if the car handles like a ****in monster.. i just don't wanna sound like a 747 pulling in a hangar everytime i pull up to a stop light knowing damn well the michelins are some steaming garbage.

Tirerack.com will give you the "road noise" rating for tires...other than changing the tires or like Beebo said, get an aftermarket sound systm; theres really no other way.

Yep, i had those tires too...pretty noisy from my experience, even with a good amount of tread.

I wanted something new but tires nowadays are just too expensive,
I bought some used michelin pilot sports with 80% tread left for the front, and some pirelli(I forget the exact model) with 70% in the rear.

much MUCH quieter , i'm assuming the noise will return as the tread wears out though. Let's just say when you hear noise, it's indication of treadwear. Just when you think your tires are still good, check the inner tread.
