Tire sizes in Tire Rack
Tire sizes in Tire Rack
I was browsing tirerack site and the alternate size for the stock is 265/40/18 rear and 245/40/18 front, now I think the stock wheel is 18x7.5 why do they put this on their site? Anyway I was wondering, I have an 18x8.5 rims, do you think 265/40/18 rear and 245/40/18 front will fit fine?
Re: Tire sizes in Tire Rack
The alternate sizes aren't necessarily guaranteed for the stock rims.. they're alternate sizes that work okay with the car's speedometer/odometer/ABS/etc., and may or may not require aftermarket rims -- which, of course, you can purchase from TireRack.
The stock 18's on the Coupe are 18x8's, which can hold the 245/40R18's, but the 265/40R18's require 9" wide wheels, according to the specs on TireRack.

Re: Tire sizes in Tire Rack
I saw this too and they have there fittings messed up for the rear. It should be a 275/40-18 which is the same height as the stock 245/45-18s. Most wheel manufacturers spec this size for 9.5-10.5" rear wheels. If you aren't going to use wider wheels in the rear, you may be better off not staggering the rear tires in width. A 275/40 and a 265/40 are too wide(check the specs) for an 8.5" wheel. You would be better off just using a 245/45-18 in the rear on those wheels with 245/40-18 fronts. The stock wheels are definitely 18x8.0" with 30 mm offset on all 4 corners. The first week I got my car, I swapped the front 225/45's for 245/40's to get the front a little more grip since our cars understeer stock.
