Question 1: How much clearance did rolling your fenders give you?

I installed my GT-S yesterday +18 offset - and of course had rubbing in the rear, which i expected. I've been looking for a place to roll the fender and have been unsuccessful - I've read the DIY but if i do this - i will probably buy the actual tool then just hit ebay when i'm done...

I have a place that said they could cut the fender, but no more than 1/4" or so... anything more and he worried it would jeopardize the fender's strength

Question 2: - if they cut the fender about 1/4" will that be enough? The car will probably be right around a finger gap all around - possibly a bit lower....

Any opinions?

What width tires are you running? And is rubbing only in the rear?

When you get a chance, post the width of your rear wheels and the exact tire size. Your alignment settings would be helpful as well. This will get you precise feedback!!

Cutting 1/4" should get you enough clearance, but its still a poor substitute for rolling IMO. Better off with a good roll, which should get you an additional 1/2-3/4" clearance depending on how tight the roll is.

*the tires are 275/35/19 on a 10.5" rim and only the rears are rubbing...

*haven't got it aligned yet because i want to get it aligned with my new wheels on...

*redlude - that is my thinking - i am planning to get the tool and do it properly next weekend... i was just being impatient and cutting seemed like a easy, quick fix - but i'd rather do it right so i guess I'll wait

roll the fenders, dont cut them. Sounds like a mild roll will fix your problem.

Same wheels, offset and tire size. Really minor paint crack, but that was because i was too impatient with the hair dryer. Still, the crack is minor enough that i wouldn't worry about. Overall, pretty easy to do and only 2 bucks.

yeah - i bought the actual eastwood tool so once that comes in - I'll practice on my old car and then do mine the correct way... I can't wait!
