18" feedback?

Hey folks.
I'm thinking of picking up some 18" wheels for my 06 coupe. Stock sizes are 225/45/18F 245/45/18R. If I go down to 35 Profile how much difference in smoothness of the ride is there? Will the lower profile void the warranty on my suspension? Will the 35 profile even have an effect on the suspension?

Im looking for tires that are about 100$ a pop. I'm not looking to race, peel out or go hard. Just want decent tires for everyday driving. I will not be driving in the winter. So far only Nanknag NS-2 seems to be in my budget, any feedback on those?

Also if anyone has a pic of a Coupe with 18s and 35 profile not lowered please post.

Thanks!

I have had the Nankangs on two of my cars and personally I love them....they have VERY good treadlife, wet traction, dry traction, and they are affordable. Too bad I was forced to go with Nexen N3000 for my rims on order.

Unless you're running a much wider tire than 245 (say 275), a 35 profile will be way too short.

I've heard great thing about the General Exclaims (on Tire Rack) and the prices are awesome as well, just read the reviews and tests.

You won't void your warranty but with a lower profile you'll feel more of the road and bumps and there will be less protection for your rims. But like I said, a 35 profile with a 245 width will be way too short. You want to stay as close to OEM diameter as possible.

if you just change the sidewall and keep the same width on the tires, that will throw off your speedo and on the fronts overall circumference by almost 7% and for the rears 7% also. that will make your speedo read about 5 miles faster than you are actually going. that was using the tire size calculator on this site http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

^^^for the visual learner.

p.s.

I just got FK452s in 275-40-18 and 245-40-18 for my new wheels. They're equal height in rear and only off by 0.2inches in front, or something like that.

thanks for posting that, that's actually very handy since you can also plug in offsets as well.
