I have an 04 OB sedan with Axis Hiro 19s 8.5 in front & 9.5 in rears...My car has full 350z revised suspension (springs/shocks) & rear SPC camber kits. I finally got around to installing them today and rushed to the alignment shop to get everything re-aligned.....To my disappointment, the rear rubs.....Does anyone have a similar setup with the same problem???? I saw tTrank's FAQs and it said it should work w/o any rubbing issues....Anyone got any tips out there???? I got a feeling im missing something here....Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

wheels are as follow:
245/35/19 (8.5 rim) and 275/30/19 (9.5 rim)

what are your wheel offsets? Sounds to me that the offset of the rims is what's making it rub... adjust your rear camber back to negative. Since your on 305z springs, it should have only lowered you an inch... your fine without the camber kit.

 

I'm not sure what my offsets are but I'm going to check with my bro tomorrow morning. I tried telling the idiots at Firestone to do exactly what you just said about the camber. They insisted that I was crazy...... I'm going to post all my specs tomorrow (all the alignment sheet specs, offsets on the wheels and some pics).

 

Sounds like your gonna need to get your car aligned so you can tuck your tires and/or roller your fenders. Offset is KEY!!!

 

Just have the fenders rolled.

If you do have negative camber dialed back in, you will have some uneven wear of the tire. Something to consider.

But yeah, whats the offsets? That is important

 

If my memory serves me correctly the Hiros are only available in +38 or +45 for the 9.5inch rim 5x114.3. You can do a visual check to make sure but you have the +45mm offset. My 5Zigens are the same spec as your Hiros and I had rubbing in the rear with 350z/g35 coupe suspension. I even had rubbing with my 19x8.5 Axis Milanos +35mm offset. What I did was I rolled my fenders. Go to a shop that does it correctly ie, make small cuts in the fender and then bend them upwards, and paint them. It cost me $230 (2 1/2hrs labor) as oppose to getting negative camber and wearing out my rear tires quicker. Now I can load 3 people in the back seat and not worry about rubbing, speed bumps, etc... The 2nd gen guys are lucky their cars come with rolled fenders straight from the factory.

 

I'm suprised that you mentioned they cut the fender before rolling it perry. Around my parts, they all use a heat gun and the roller tool.

I remember cutting mine on my 65 mustang and f'in up the fender after I rolled it. Just never heard of that being done with a G before.

 

I use a heat gun and a rubber mallot to roll the fenders. It takes about 10 minutes per side.

Where are your tires rubbing? The fender lip or inside the wheel well?

 

How do you guys get it rolled flat??? I tried rolling them but its nowhere near flat.....It seem to help out alot....Rubs on big dips with people in the back. I think this is a right approach, seems to make a big difference in rubbing. Anyone in the Norcal area know of any shops that can get that done??? I'm having a hard time finding a shop that will roll fenders around here. Stockton, CA.

 

That's right what the guy did was measure off about half of the fender going parallel with the wheel well then dotted out the stamps in the fender (round impressions in the fender panel) made the verticle cuts where those dots were then rolled the fender all the way up to the fender and repainted them to keep them from rusting. No cracking, bending etc... He did a really good job it looks like the car came from the factory with rolled fenders.

 

Thats cool. I'm sure it came out great....you're fenders are proof of that Just a first I've heard of it done on a G.
