G Sedan: Koni's or Tein Basics?

So, do I throw Koni Sport shocks on with my stock sport suspension springs or get tein basic coilovers?

I have looked at these two for a while. I know the Koni sport shocks are mono tube and excellent but they are the same price almost as the tein basic coilovers. with the teins I get adjustable ride height and a true coilover, not a sleeve type....but they are double tube.

will I notice that big a difference on my hard driven, sometimes tracked G35 Sedan?

My front shocks are going soon (next 10,000 miles), and it will be over 400.00 for OEM parts (I would replace front and rear at the same time) whereas the Konis and the Teins both run around 700-800 dollars.

I have the sport suspension already so my spring rates are pretty good to begin with.

Labor is not a concern, I do it all myself

I'll say you go for the Tein Basics. Their not bad at all! Goodluck!

I guess the Basics aren't too bad of a choice as the spring rate on those are 504 lbs. front and rear which is definitely stiffer than the stock sport springs. The only thing that turns me off from that option is the non adjustable dampers. Konis and stock springs wouldn't be a bad choice either. To be honest it really comes down to preference. IMHO I'd wait for the Tokico D-specs to come out first before making any decisions.

thank you for your advice. I need 700.00 (about 20 hours of overtime) to make a move on these. I will probably do my rotors and stainless steel brake lines at the same time so i need to get about 1200.00 altogether. So yes i do have time before I get these.

Re: G Sedan: Koni's or Tein Basics?

Take a long hard look at the drop range specs for the Tein Basic for the sedan. Make absolutely certain your ok with that. I've thought quite a bit about using them, BUT. I'd run 448lbs front springs that are 1" taller. That way, my front to rear spring rate balance would be closer to the stock balance (same as the Nismo S-tune balance btw) and I'd end up with a drop range that I could accept. I want the greater spring stiffness the Basic's have, because as I drive, I can feel how the chassis could be more rewarding with greater spring stiffness. But, I don't like how I can't adjust the dampning on the basic's. Yet, to get coilovers that have dampner adjustability, is more than I can spend right now. I'd want Coupe Jics with softer front springs, $1750 plus new front springs. And Koni's don't appeal to me, since they use less compression dampning then the oem 350Z shocks and are single adjustable for rebound. I'm waiting for Tokico D-spec shocks, which will be 45 way double adjustable for rebound AND compression. Maybe by them, Ground-control sleave coilovers will be out and I can pick whatever linear spring rates I want.
