After Market Brakes

I have been looking at Stoptech 14 1/4" big brakes all the way around, has anybody used these or any other after market brakes on their coupe or sedan? Any feedback on any brands would be great. Brent

Re: After Market Brakes

I have a Stillen 2-pc. Big Brake Kit on the front. I love'em.

They have 14.25" slotted/cross-drilled rotors, 6-piston forged aluminum calipers, and stainless steel lines both front and rear. I changed out the stock brake fluid in favor of the Motul brand, which has a higher boiling point. I've had them on the car for a month or so. When I have had to brake hard, they've stopped the car with impressive force. They do not interfere with VDC, ABS, nor EBFD.

I understand the front brakes actually perform the lion's share of bringing the car to a stop. Using over-sized brakes on the back is OK, but not necessary. Stillen sells a performance-matched rear Big Brake Kit, too. Their rear rotor is somewhat smaller than the front, and the caliper is a 4-piston piece. If you're going to go for both fronts and rears, they might as well be performance-matched. Otherwise, your brake system's brain may be smart enough to adjust as needed to bring them into balance. I'm not sure about that, but my stock rears seem to function very well with the new kit up front...

They installed very easily, with no fabrication required. There were no clearance issues. Break-in was very straightforward and uneventful. They aren't grabby, nor touchy, like the OEM set was. They're silent. Did I say they're powerful? They're powerful!

Good luck with your project.

Re: After Market Brakes

I have the Stoptech brakes, I had them on my Z, but they are going on my Sedan (I just picked it up last week).

Stoptech is top notch, and after I took them off the Z, I could tell a HUGE difference, not so much so when I put them on, but when I took them off the car was completely different.

I would highly recommend Stoptech, when I get some wheels that clear the brakes, I will post some pics. Also, I had the 13" front kit, it is more than enough unless you are going for looks....

Yes I'm Intrested you can send me pricing and info or direct me to your site. Only concern is that brakes do not change wheel offsets as I've heard that AP brakes on the rear move your rims out about 1/2" and I have no room to move them out with my 20"'s. Thanks Brent

Re: After Market Brakes

The only challenges are (1) making sure you can fit the calipers behind the wheels and (2) removing the dust shields on the rear rotors.

Re: After Market Brakes

i only have hte front brake kit for sale. THey fit under stock 17s so if you ahve the same amount of room as stock 17s, then you'll be fine. I imagine you can fit them under most rims.

They are for sale for 1100. Selling the rotors, callipers(6 piston), brake pads about 60% left Q compound. FOr more info on them: www.g35brakes.com

Brent, Eagle1 has them on his Coupe. He posts here and on about every G forum out there. To see his car, type EAGLE1 and G35 into Google and have fun.
