Yokohama YK520

Just bought a 2004 Coupe and it has near new Yokohama YK520's on the front (18" rims, how do I know if it has TPMS?), but the rear has old Michelin Pilots that need to be replaced asap.

Since I already have new Yoko 520's in the front, my first inclanation is to buy the same type of tire for the rear. But I'll be driving this car in the snow and I'm wondering where I can find tire ratings for snow performance.

Any help greatly appreciated!

This tire is sold only at retail chains such as Big10, NTB, Tire Kingdom, etc. It's comparable to the Avid v4s which is a more widely known tire. 60,000 mile treadlife. I have the Avids on my sedan and am very happy with the ride and handling.

The Yoks YK520 is actually only sold at Discount Tire Co. or Americas Tire Co. they are built just for them. They are really good tires, not really snow rated but is an all season tire so should handle fine. And as for the v4s its a good tire as well but usually dont last as long

Yokahoma YK520 info

I just got these on the rear for my car (2004 coupe 6MT). I'm tired of paying 300/tire for the Pilots and barely getting 20K out of them. I was looking for something more reasonable on the wallet but still with good performance (the jury is out - I've only had them for a day). These were highly recommended by the guy I use at Discount Tire - he seems to know his stuff. I was thinking about this or a Kuhmo tire - he recommended this.

I've been trying to find out more about them too. The following link may help.

BTW - our cars have TPMS

Thumbs down Yk520 - No!

I want to give an update on the tires. I do not like them and they are going back. I've had the slip light come on and the VDC kick in so many times since I got these that I lost count. Furthermore, the car seems to float around on them.

I don't consider myself a spirited or aggressive driver; however I do drive a little fast and enjoy the corners. I like to "drive" the car sometimes but not always. My experience with this tire has been from what I would consider normal everyday driving.

If you drive like a grandma then you love this tire. If you like to push it just a little, get something different.

The only positive thing I have to say about the tire is that I like the way it looks on the car - the tread looks wider and more aggressive.

Looks aren't everything though - I'm getting the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. I'll deal with the money and the short life - some things are priceless (like being able to drive my car the way I like to drive it)
