Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

Axis Milano wheels
19x8.5 front with 245/35/19
19x9.5 rear with 275/30/19 with Toyo S1 rubber and +45 offset.
I hope it looks smooth. I plan to drop it with pro-kits next week. I've been told it will work perfect and not rub...

its going to have 3.5" lip in the rear, hopefully it looks good on sedan. What do you all think?

I'll post up some pics as soon as I get them, they should arrive on Friday! can't wait now.

Re: Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

Suhki, sounds like you got a sweet setup going there. I have heard however (not proven) that 275 would rub especially if you are lowering the vehicle. I got 19" on my sedan as well and wanted to do the staggered package. I wanted 235 fr and 265 rr. I was having so many issues trying to find the matching pair. Either one size was available while the other was not in stock. Finally i just got pissed and ordered 235s all around. My next set of tires will definitely be staggered. I am curious however to see if those 275s do fit w/out rubbing. My coilovers are in the mail and will arrive next week. Please keep us posted on that.

Re: Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

what offsets for the front did you get?

From what I have come to understand is that 8.5 +38 will be the only one you can fit... 9.5" +45 will probabbly not rub if you tuck the wheel in a little bit wit hmore negative camber.

Re: Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

They are +45 for both the front and the rear. I have been researching and found that many of the folks here who have 19s are running 275/35/19 on the rear instead of 275/30/19 what i ordered.
This is on the coupes though, i am not too sure how it would work on the sedan.

Secondly, I've been thinking a 9.5 in the rear might be too big for a clean look. I don't want the rear wheels to make the car look like it is a 4x4 or anything remotely suggesting a foul up on the rim size selection.

any thoughts or suggestions before they start putting together my package this afternoon.

cheers,

19x8.5 +45 WILL rub on the inside. You have very little room there b/w the wheel and the upper control arm ... Take a look at the excellent chart that Clint prepared (attached).

19x9.5 +45 will NOT rub on the inside but MAY rub on the outside. Look at the chart - you'll see what I mean. You buy yourself a little more room in the back with negative camber...

Re: Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

Thanks Gurgen,

I just called them back and they also agreed on the offset for the front. They are going to have a billet aluminum spacer made for it to work.

Thus the 19x8.5 front will have a +38 offset
and the 19x9.5 rear will have a +45 offset. I've decided to stick with the 275/30/19 for the rear, I don't think i will rub with this set up. Even if i do, I think it would be minimal...

Anxiously waiting now...

Re: Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

why not just get the wheel in a +38 offset (or smth close to it). A 7 mm spacer MAY necessitate longer hub bolts, a and once you do that it is very possible that your wheel will NOT sit on the bore anymore. At least with stock wheels, it is IMPOSSIBLE to install even a 5mm spacer, as the weel is tapered on the inside and will NOT sit on the bore.

Be careful bro, I would hate for you to be stuck with the fronts.... Just stop the order and order the right ones!

A 7mm spacer will DEFINITELY require longer hub bolts.

Re: Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

These wheels do not come in +38 offset. He said that with a 5 mm spacer, I would not need a longer hub bolts and it would not rub. I have seen a few other sedans running a +40 offset on a 19x8.5 without rubbing.

Thanks for the info...if it doesn't fit i'll just get some longer hub bolts.

Re: Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

well I actually did put an 8 mm spacer and had 5 revolutions left on the thread. So the owner of the car would be the judge of whenther he/she wants to take the risk. The big problem is that you SIMPLY AND ABSOLUTELY cannot put the wheel back on the hub (for it to remain hub-centric) even with a 5mm spacer.

THe truth is that our friend simply cannot put a +45 8.5" wide wheel in the front. I forsee a bad scenario: spending thousands of dollars on wheels/tires and then be stuck with not being able to install them. Trust me, many of these wheel shops do NOT know the strict requirements of the sedan fitment, there is simply no room there for wide wheels (in the front I mean).

Gurgen,

I understand your point, i too am concerned. The spacer that will be provided will be a hub centric spacer, so it should work.

Re: Just ordered some 19" wheels for my Sedan

Sukhi

I understand what you are saying, of course it is a hub centric spacer, it is the WHEEL that will no longer be hubcentric once you put in the spacer. To really understand it, take off your wheel, look at the hub and you will see that you only have about 8 mm of hub protruding from the disk, and only 3-5 of this is used up - i.e. protruding inside the wheel bore as you install the wheel.

Putting even a 5 mm spacer will make you completely "run out" of the hub, so to speak. Your wheel will now be floating on the outside of of the hub. In the meantime, your spacer IS hubcentric, but your wheel is not!

Now, what one can do is make a spacer that will fit on top of the hub, protrude out passed the hub, and have it's own kind of hub for the wheel to sit on. Even if this was safe (which it is NOT), elegant (whihc it is NOT), or cheap (price of the spacers plus longer bolts plus labor to install the longer bolts - machine shop only), you would still NOT be able to use t because such a spacer requires at least a 15mm (preferably 25mm) thickness to be strong enough at the "neck". And with that kind of addition to your offset, your wheel will stick out and be an eyesore.

Anyways, I am not gonna say anything else. Just trying to help. Just hope that you can reverse your mistake before you get into a whole other mess. This is just my opinion of course, and one that I base on many hours of research.
