Trying to figure out tire size
Currently I have the tires that came with the rims I bought, which are 225/30/20. They are too thin for me and I have already bent some of the rims so I'm getting them fixed and putting on different tires.
A bit of info first. I have an '06 sedan (non-sport) and I will also be installing Tein Basics and lowering the car a little (not sure how much) after getting the new tires on. Wheels are 8.5".
I've done some researching and I've come down to two options, but would like suggestions on them or even some recommendations.
Option 1: 245/35/20 all around
Option 2: 245/35/20 in front and 255/35/20 in the rear
I don't want to have any issues with rubbing and I do want the wheels to be protect in case I inadvertently run over another pot hole. Would a 35 profile be fine or would 40 be better? If I go with 40, will I face any rubbing issues? Would 255's in the front be too large for the front? Would 265's but too large for the rear?
Thanks for the input.

Lets look at what diameter came on the car originally and go from there.
215/55/17 = 26.31" diameter and your 222/30/20's are 25.31" which is a full 1" below stock diameter. This means with your current setup you are tossing both fuel economy AND performance away because those tires are having to turn 31.3 more times per mile to keep up with what the stock size was. Thats extra gas and extra engine RPM just to keep up with stock sizes. Your spedometer is also 3.959% off and 4mph to fast for your actual speed.
Both of the new sizes you want are taller than stock, the 245/35 is 26.71" and the 255/35 is 27.02". Both would work but if you are dropping the 245/35 is the best choice and it's also closer to stock and would work great on a 8.5" wheel.
265/30 is just a tad smaller at 26.25" and the recommended smallest wheel size is starting at 9"

Thanks for the input. I actually did notice that I am getting a bit less fuel economy, about 2-3 mpg.
I had previously visited that site you linked me to, and that is where I did the mix matching and whatnot. I think I will stick with 245's all around, because I can also cross rotate them if needed, plus it seems to be the closest to stock tire size and doesn't through off the speedo too much.
