Have to Vent About my Wheels...

I know that this doesn't directly pertain to the "coupe" forum but I didn't know what other category to put it in.
I need to vent over a situation involving my dealership and my wheels. Please tell me if my request for them to replace my wheels will be unreasonable considering the following situation:

1) At 7500 miles I took my car in for service
2) At that time the dealer damaged my wheels taking them off to do the tire balance and alignment.
3) I took the car in for them to "fix the scratches.
4) A week later I noticed the finish turning black.
5) I took it in and they fixed it.
6) Another month later the finish turned again
7) I took it in and they fixed it.
This occured two additional times. (I mainly noticed that it would be faded after I took my car in for service of some sort[I think that the wheel cleaner that they use is too harsh for the finish]
Finally it seemed that the problem was taken care of...

8) I bump a curb and scrape my front left wheelt wo weeks ago
9) I take it in and pay to get it fixed [I'm too much of a trustng soul]
10) I take it in 3 days later because my power seat gets stuck and won't go back
11) I pick up the car and later that day I noticed that the wheel that was fixed (the portion of the wheel that was fixed) as well as the other three wheels where repair has been attempted have begun to turn black. They told me to bring it in on Wednesday to get it repaired again. Up til now I have been very civil and I hope that we can resolve this situation amicably.

On Wednesday I am going to repectfully demand that they REPLACE my wheels. I am anticipating some resistance based on prior experience dealing with car repair shops. If so I will contact Infiniti and complain as well as consult with my boss (a lawyer) as regards legal action if necessary. I have kept this frustration inside for so long regarding the situation that it is really pissing me off right now. Perhaps Wednesday I won't be so keyed up, especially if they agree to replacing my wheels.

Should I give them an additional opportunity to fix them or should I demand replacement.

They've tried four times, and failed four times. Would you give them another opportunity? At some point, their keeping up with your wheels is going to cost them more than getting a new set. Not to mention the terrible PR they could get from being so negligent... Bring in all papers pertaining to each trip, and show them that they've tried and failed many times, now they should just replace them.

Infiniti of Charlotte damaged my rims as well. They denied everything and I made a scene.

Wish it was on tape.

Re: Have to Vent About my Wheels...

I would certainly ask for replacements.
I just had my rims refinished too after having them scratched up by my tire place (not a dealer) after getting my winter tires taken off. They acknowledged the damage and rented me a car for the time mine was in for repair. I got my car back on Friday and I'm not sure what to think. The wheels are now perfect, (they fixed all the blemishes) but they are now darker than they were. They look even more gunmetal and one wheel is "slightly" darker than the other three. On my DG, it looks great, but the darker one bothers me a little that it doesn't quite match. I will probably bring the car back to get them matched to the darker one.

The carwash guy hopped a curb with my coupe on the stock 18's...they first offered swapping out all 4 wheels so it would match since 1 wheel would be new and the other three have seen 11k miles so it wont match exactly...I have my other set of wheels so they settled with me by repainting the front bumper due to rock chips and the back cause of a scratch...they were totally cool about it and didnt deny anthing...thats why Sewell has such good return service, far better than Grubbs...

It seems like you've got your facts well documented on all of the repairs. That's to your advantage in a major way. If you bring all of that in and show them your "timeline" they'd be stupid to say no because they know you can easily take it to a higher authority.
