new rear tires and slip light

Hey guys,

I have ~13k on my coupe and had to replace the 2 rear tires the other day bc i split the sidewall in one of them. Now whenever i take a curvy off ramp or even make a fastish turn (but not much above the speed limit) my slip light comes on and it feels like the ABS is activating. It never did this before and i have to baby all the turns so the dam car doesnt start jerking with slip. Is this bc the new rear tires are more grippy than the pilot sports on the front? The front have about another 6-8k worth of miles in them still.

What do u think? problem with VDC or do i just have to get new frotn tires.

Thanks!

Re: new rear tires and slip light

Are the new rears the exact same size as your old set? If not, then the VDC is kicking b/c of the diameter change on the rears. The rear tires need to be close or exactly the same size as stock tires on the car.

- Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.=P-

Re: new rear tires and slip light

Tire compounds harden from heat and wear [the vulcanization continues]..............they [the new ones] are the oem Pilot Sports correct?

The treadwear index only gives an indication of the compound durometer hardness when brand new, not used with 8,000 miles.

Some times oem and aftermarket tires are different even with the same brand make and model. Sometimes the factory orders SPECIALS with different compounds and what you buy from stores may be harder.

Also lots depends on how old the tires are [read the DOT codes on the sidewall] how and where they were stored [temperature] and local ozone levels.
