I assume you have a sedan? 235/50/17 would be a good alternative size that is a bit wider on the stock 17x7 wheels

245 is too wide for a 17x7.

kumho and falken make great cost-effective tires. you can do 235/50 or 225/50. either will be fine. there are others out there, but these two come to mind. great for everyday performance.

my 225/50 kumho ecsta asx look awesome, compared to stock. they have a much wider cross section than my oem turanza'a so i only went with 225. 235 would have bulged a bit with the ecsta.

check out tire rack for pricing relative to the other suggestions...

I run 225/50 in the summer. Works well.

i use yokohama S-drive tires in the stock 215/55R17 size and it works pretty good. I have about 9k miles on them, and they are about 65%/55% Front and rear. I used the avon M500 but those died in like 12000 miles and tire rack doesn't stock them any more.

If you get snow i'd recommend the Falken 912 tire as it works pretty well as a summer tire and works in light snow as an all season.

^ you must track your car, right? to be roughly 1/2 usable tread after 9k miles is very fast wear. what is the treadwear rating of the s-drives?

It's amazing the cost difference between tires due to size, with 17" rims
what ever you buy couldn't cost that much. If you want quality tires I'd
stick with Michelins but get the PS2s from TireRack. With the wear rating
of 240 they should give you a safe 30K miles of wear, not to mention
a nice quiet ride....
