Tires I have owned:
Michelin PS
Bridgestone SO3
Michelin PS2
Nitto Stats:
2k miles so far
40 psi front, 38 rear (proper psi on these tires are still up for debate)
255/35/19 , 285/35/19
My car is a daily driver. Most of the time I just putter to and from work with the occasional offramp fun or mountain drive. Once my PS2’s were worn I decided that I would try to find a cheaper tire since I couldn’t justify the coin given my driving style.
These tires have a very thick profile. Most other reviews fail to mention this, but be conservative (stretch) when it comes to picking a size. If your current tires barely clear your fenders (especially in the rear) then these tires of the same size might have clearance issues.
The first thing I noticed is that these tires have a squishier sidewall compared to PS2. I cranked up the PSI and the squishyness was reduced. These tires ride very well and are quite comfortable. I notice I get less noise from imperfections in the road, but I do get a bit of tire hum in the rears at freeway speeds (my only real complaint). Increasing the PSI also helped reduce this problem but not eliminate it. The fronts are dead silent. The grip is excellent. It comes very close to PS2.
Overall, I really like these tires. The tire roar in the rear while not that intrusive was disappointing as I had read so many reviews of these tires being silent, but what do you expect from a high performance summer tire. I am hoping a trip to the alignment shop will solve it. I would say that these tires are perfect for your average G/Z owner who wants to enjoy their car’s handling while keeping the ride civilized. For those of us who want a stiffer driving experience (and with extra cash), the PS2 remains the best choice.

As for the tire pressure, the jury is still out on that one. I might bring it back down to the generally accepted 35 all around and give it another go.

several thousand mile update
the rears are still pretty noisy. upping the PSI helps a bit, but still disappointed since they were marketed to be quiet. these tires seem to get decent tread life and they look amazing and have pretty good grip. my favorites are still ps2 of course.
next up: falken 452

i have no doubt that those are better in terms of grip, but i am looking for more comfort and less road noise than those can offer.
I'd get the Hankook V12 Evo before the 452. The only reason I'd get the 452 is if I wanted longer tread life and MAYBE better wet weather performance (just assuming its a little better based on tread design). otherwise the hankook is quite and grips well. You may find the same sidewall distaste as you do with the Nittos vs the PS2. Only other suggestion I could make is try the Toyo T1R or T1S as those owners seem extremely confident that it is a better tire than the Hankook.
