Stern or no?

I really like these Stern ST-1. They are 19s. I read they are heavy though. Are these good? Is there a better brand with this style?

everyone's defination of "Good" and "Better" rims will defer.

you have a LOT of VOLKS fanboys here. The run nothing but VOLKS and anything non-volks they think is trash.

Its just a way of life, same goes for everything out there, its really what works for YOU. You dont need our approval of denial.

The rims look decent, i'm not a chrome guy myself but i like the look. If you want them and the price is right get them. Stock rims are like 25lbs i think, being chrome and 19's i figure it should be 25-30lbs rims.

in the end, its all about you. You will be the one seeing it EVERY DAY, not us. I say go for it.

as to the style, everyone makes copies of everyone else. There are least 10 exact copies of these wheels out there. Just gotta find them.

Are they good? Yes, Stern makes a high quality wheel. You could spend more for another brand, but the question isn't whether another brand is better, the question is are these good enough for what you'll use them for. I have OEM Coupe 18's so these Sterns are probably better than mine, but the ones I have are plenty good for what I use them for (daily driver, summer tire setup). BTW, those are heavier because they're chromed.

As to whether someone makes a similar looking wheel, you'll have to search for that on your own, but it's a basic 7/14 spoke design, so I'm sure you'll find it.

No, they are by far what I would consider good quality wheels.

I'd rock a set for $750, but if I had to pay more than a g, I'd choose something else. Hell, who am I kidding? I won't even pay $500 for these things...

I had stern ST-IIs in 20's

i bet you anything the ST-I even in 19s will be 30+ lbs each. It's just nature of cast wheels and triple plated chrome doesn't help either.

As far as quality, I never had a problem with them.....and I was on low profile tires.

As far as looks goes......they are pretty much always "copying" designs from other manufcatureres......but which company doesn't do that....and I also grew out of the chrome look as well. I like more of a sporty wheel.

It's a pretty common design..been around for a while. I think some Porsche's and VW's came with a similar rim OEM. I've also seen it used on some racing circuits. A lot of people call it a "Y-spoke" rim

Thanks for all the info. I wasn't asking for approval, more advice because I've never owned a set of Stern wheels. I'm getting a killer deal but it seems too good to be true. I wanted to make sure they were good wheels & weren't going to fall apart on me LOL.
I'm probaby going non-chrome for weight reasons.

It's paint, not chrome and they weigh the same.

The silver ones did weigh more in person than the chrome. The guy had a scale.

Either way, the finish is all paint, so which finish you choose won't really affect weight. Unless they add more lead in other paints over there in China, I really doubt an extra layer of finish is going to make that much of a difference.
