275 tires on an 11" rim, too stretched?

Will running a 275/35/19 tire on a 19x11 rim be to stretched for practical daily driving? I don't want to have to deal with curbing my wheels when I hit a pothole or blowouts or anything like that. I don't drive my car aggressively at all but they do see some city driving...

Any advice?

If you do not need to stretch the tire to fit the wheel, then run a bigger tire. I ran a 265 on an 11" rim so to answer your question no it is not to stretched.

I am considering a used set and this is the sizing it comes in. I don't put a lot of miles on my car so this 275 setup is probably what I will have for a long time, assuming no flats.

Do you think I will run into problems with daily driveability on this current setup The other thing I am worried about is people saying it's easier to curb...do they mean when you actually hit the curb parking? Or just in everyday driving situations? The former I'm not worried about, the latter I am.

It also depends on the tire brand. I have a friend that bought a Trans Am and the previous owner put 275 tires on 11inch rim and it look ridiculous. He later changed them out to 285 and another brand and they looked MUCH wider than the numbers suggest and it looks great now.

When they say it is easier to curb, the tire is stretched so the leading edge of the rim will be exposed, so if you were to tap a curb it would hit rim first instead of tire.

Vredestein Sessanta. From my searches here people have said they 'stretch well', I have no idea what that means in the context of being reliable. I'm just assuming that means they're not going to blow up the first pot hole I hit...

I'm really trying to figure this out and get a definitive answer on reliability and safety because I'm not trying to buy new tires anytime soon and the fitment of these is a real deal breaker for me.

I honesly would run any less than 295 on an 11" rim. I just think it looks far too stretched.

285 on 11" is not too stretched, I know because that is my setup...but I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

OP - Are you buying just tires or tires and rims? if the stretch bothers you then why don't you buy the rims and then sell the tires? Then use that money to buy new tires that are wider? If you're buying just tires then never mind.

Brand does have alot to do with the overall width of the tire. I had a set of Vredestein tires and a set of Falken 452s both of the same size and the Falkens were much wider than the Vredestein.

Well it'd be 275 on 11", and I am buying tires and wheels as a set. Due to personal reasons I don't have time to be reselling tires and reordering new ones, mounting and balancing, etc.

I wish I did, but I don't and just need either a set of wheels/tires that are essentially plug and play, or I'm just going to buy rear tires for my current set of wheels and call it a day. Not sure which I want to do yet...the safety of 275 on 11" is really what will make the difference in my mind.

FWIW...BF goodrich says it's "safe" to have a 275 tire on an 11" wheel. That's the widest they allow for that size tire.

I couldn't find any information of that sort with Vredestein Sessantas. I checked Tireguides tech section but it was massive and I couldn't find anything that pinpointed this type of information for the tires I'm looking at.

it sounds like you have no choice but to get the 275? So if someone said it wasnt safe, would you not buy those rims?

275 on a 11" is not much more stretched than a 245 on a 9.5" rim which is standard.

275s are a better fit for 9-10" wheels. My buddy has 315/35 on a 17x11" wheel for his trans am and they fit flawlessly.
