255/45 or 265/40 on stock 18 rears?

I am replacing my rear 245/45/18s and would like something a little wider. I am on stock suspension, no drop. So, can I run either a 255/45/18 or 265/40/18 and be OK? I am on stock 04 Coupe 18s (think 8" rim)

Thanks.

no. 245 is the widest you should run on an 8" wheel

Those 8" rear wheels really limit what you can put on the car.

Looks like you need to upgrade to the coupe 19's!!

Edit: Looks like there are people running 255's on the coupe 18. Not sure if it's smart though.

the rim width range for 255/45-18s is 8-9.5 so its ok, not 265/40 though, you should have at least 9" wide wheels for those
