Replacement Tires

Looking to get some new tires before the snow comes. Currently I have 215-55-17 GoodYear RSAs (Stock) on my '04 sedan. The tire shop wants to sell me a set of Firestone Firehawk LH 235-50-17. He says it is the same diameter as the stock set. Anyone know if I will have any issues with the different tire size?

Firestone makes me think of tire blow outs. As for tire size, in the snow you want a thinner tire so if you get alot of snow I would pass on the wider tires.

Check out Blizzak and get the tire size the car calls for. The shop will sell you whatever they have in stock. +1 on the above, thinner tires perform better in snow than wider. Let us know what you decide!

Technically the tire is the same size and will fit fine on your car,

but if you plan on driving in the snow with them, wide tires are not the way to go. However, i get a feeling you don't want to buy 2 sets of tires and swap them.

I decided not to go with the wider tire. Instead I got stock size Pireili P6s. They seem to ride nice. Hopefully the wet traction will get better when they wear in a little. Otherwise it seemed like a decent deal at $129 a tire installed.
