did Costco BS me?

i bought a set of Winterforce just to get thru this winter. i took it to costco yesturday for mount/balance. Tech told me the Winterforce is rated different then my OEM standard, and therefore they can't install the tires for me.

long story short, i left and had it installed at PBC Automotive today. The car steering wheel feel a lot softer than before. Is this normal?

Any set of winter tires are going to be softer than most OEM tires, especially G35, which also why most doesn't keep driving on them all year round. That explains your softer steering and the lower rating. Make sure the tire pressure is correct though, sometimes they just forget and only put enough air to seat the bead.

I don't think they BS'd about it, they just didn't want to be liable for putting tires that aren't made for speed on to a high performance vehicle. It could just be that certain costco or individual that really stands by to what's written in the book. You may get better luck in a different costco.

thank you for your response

one more thing, the tech said my car will wear down the tires quick with probably 15k miles max.

true or no?

i only plan on using it for about 3-4 months til like may.

majority of the costco will not mount a tire that is not bought through them because they do not want to be liable for anything that will go wrong.
