Tire Question

Hello everyone, I have searched but couldn't find my answer.
I am getting 4 new summer tires for oem 19s.
i wanted to go slightly wider for the tires since they were the same prices with oem sizes.
is it okay if i go with

245-40-19 for fronts
255-40-19 for rears
???

I have notices people suggested 245-35-19 for the front but i don't want to go with thinner tires since i don't like rougher ride.
BTW i have 05 coupe 6mt and its stock height.
also the best price tires i found here in Ottawa/Canada is KUMHO SPTs.

Can anyone give me their review about these tires if they tried them.
thank you

Personally I wouldnt go as wide in the front, I would go with maybe a 235/40..

For the rear you could easily get away with a 255/40...

I am lowered and am running F 235/40 R 255/40 on stock rays with no problems..(with 25mm spacers all around)..

I checked on the tire calculator and it says that you will be slightly off on the speedometer even with OEM wall size so not sure about that. If anyone can chime in that would be great. Thanks.

So if i am not lowered and have no spacers, would 235-40 19 fronts and 255-40-19 rears be a good setup?

This thread should answer any questions you have about tires on 19's.

You should have no problems running the 245/40F and 255/40R. I've never understood why Nissan likes to put those smaller tires on the front anyway except for less rolling resistance and better gas mileage? Who cares about that?

The reason why your speedo might be slightly off (from what i have heard) is that the the second number is the ratio of the width of the wheel to the height of the tire itself. meaning if you stay with a 40 (second number) and move up to a 255, then your tire's wall (or height) will be slightly larger then it was with stock 245's.

^My speedo is 1.5 - 2mph off because I have 245x35x19 all around. I would go 255's if I wasn't getting wheels soon. If you like to rotate your tires than keep them all the same. IMO 255's all around would look better.

Hey Gary, thanks for your respond.
I don't care about the gas mileage
Would there be a difference between these two sets?
235-40F and 255-40R than chosing 245-40F 255-40R

I am between these ones if there is nothing wrong.
is there any fact that would make one set better than another?
is it better to go slightly wider front then narrower.
thanks

i wouldn't mind slighty off speedo, but you have mentioned that the tire height will be larger would it make the stock height vehicle look worse?

When I had my 18" I ran 245F & 255R without any issues and my coupe handeled very well.

nah, its a super small amount, like one of the others said, there speedo was off by 2 mph and i'm sure thats only when there doing like 70 mph, so its like a couple percent really.

I wouldn't get bigger then 235 in front unless you really need/want performance, it'll really get more expensive for both the tires and the gas themselves. 235's and 255's would look nice on stock rims with like a 10 mm spacer in front and 15 in the back. I was thinking of doing that myself, but i'll be sticking with the 245's in the back, i just ordered a set of hankook ventus v12's for the rear myself, look fairly aggressive and are better then oem in everyway according to Neal from Tirerack.com (great guy, call him to order).

If you go to aftermarket wheels i'd allow 245's no problem maybe even 255's in the front, but only if you are going to mod your car to 330 hp and higher (meaning you pretty much have to have a turbo or supercharger) , otherwise its a little bit pointless in my opinion. No bigger then 275's in the back, but i'd reccomend like 245 and 265 if possible on an aftermarket rim, looks great but is still reasonable.

just my opinion, but what would i know, i'm just a doctor.

(no, i'm really not, not even close, won't ever be either, unless its like a phd in commerce lol)

I was wondering the same question, and I'm glad that the OP's question was finally answered. I'm now thinking of going with 255's all around.
