Here are my choices as I found them in my price range: 245/40/19 for rears

Fullrun Hp199 $122/tire Treadwear 320

Federal SS-595 $115/tire Treadwear 260

Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 $157/tire Treadwear 280

Unless anyone has better tire suggestions for summer tires this is all I can afford. The hankooks price is really pushing it.

 

Also consider Falken FK452 - although they are even more expensive than Hankook Ventus. All the reviews points to Hankook Ventus being excellent tire, some even consider them to be better than FK452s. Tirerack has a fairly decent price for the Ventus; you should be able to get them locally as well - some tire shops carry them.

 

the only thing that bothers me about the ventus is the lower treadwear rating. I kinda need tires to last even if the performance is not top of the line. it sux but thats where im at right now.

 

The Federal SS595's aren't a bad tire at all - decent grip, great in the wet, and good treadwear.

 

So I ended up buying 2 of the HANKOOK V12 EVO K110 245/40ZR19 tires for $339.24 shipped from www.roadwaywholesaletire.com I looked at reviews for all the above tires and just couldnt ignore the rave reviews on the hankooks. Only thing i am worried about is the mixed reviews on the tread wear. I hope they can last me a while.

No offense, but if you can't afford to maintain the vehicle, like replacing the tires when they're worn, then perhaps you should think about selling the car. Or at least get smaller wheels so you can afford the tires. With that said, the Hankooks are by far the best of those 3 options, but you probably won't get much more than 20K-25K miles out of them. Personally, I wouldn't let a Federal or Fullrun tire anywhere near my car. I'm no tire snob, but those are the bottom of the barrel. Well, almost. You could get some Chinese made crap like Ling Long.

 

I was going to suggest the hankooks or the federals. I've had them both and loved them equally. The Federal definitely wore quick, but dont let its low price full you, it performs very very well. I think they just recently expanded their sizes too.

best bang for the buck, tests showed that they are better then falken's, perelli pzero nero, michillen pilot sport 2, in grip, dry, wet, and tied with michillen pilot for quiet

 

^ just looked at them since I haven't seen them but the Hankooks are cheaper, for my size atleast 144 vs 189

but interesting tires. OP I would go with the Hankooks.

I my self will be getting an Ultra High Performance all season though, which have alot better tread life. But you loose the very grippy tire and as stiff sidewalls that summers have. My car is DD highway 80% of the time so I can compromise I just wont have as much fun with the 20% city I drive

I don't run them personally but a buddy runs them on his 240 and he speaks Very highly of them.

 

Yep, and they're junk. Someone posted a tire review from Car and Driver recently, and the Ling Long's came in dead last, 10th out of 10, and way behind #9. Some of the other tires had better wet lap times than the Ling Long's dry lap times, and they only held like .83g through the twisties.
