I want to pick up some Work Varianzas but I'm unsure of what tire sizes to get. Currently I am running 8.5" and 10" rear aftermarket wheels and my tires are 245/35/20F and 275/30/20R. The ride is rough as hell so I want to get thicker tires, which means smaller wheels. Would 255/40/19F and 285/35/20R be okay? 40 seems kind of thick to me, what do you guys think?

Thats alot of sidewall, depends on the sizes youre getting on the other wheels.

I was worried 40 might be a little on the thick side, would it look a little odd?Originally Posted by Jackus

If youre looking to do hellaflush yeah it would, you would rub all day.

don't go with 40's on a 19" wheel - think you will regret it...

40 is too thick, will take away from the look of the rims.
Just get different and good quality tires. It depends on the tires alot.
I drove on 45profiles on 18s that were rougher ride then my 35 profile on 19s. Go figure.

35 series sidewall all around on a set of 19" wheels. You'll be golden with these sidewalls.

245/35/20 on 8.5 should be PLENTY cush... harsh ride probably coming from the 275/30/20 on your 10.
i'd go for 285/30/20 or 295/30/20.

Maybe I'll keep my wheels and go with 255/35/20F and 295/30/20R. I thought it was just the middle number that mattered when it came to ride comfort. Thanks for the help guys. Might have to roll my fenders now though.
