Shipping rims w/tires are pretty expensive nowadays if you aren't a vendor or have a shipping account with a Carrier, anyone know the best an cheapest
way to ship rims w/tires mounted which company is the cheapest ?

Greyhound if you don't mind insuring it no more then 500. I usually ship all my wheels using FedEx.

You're looking at close to $300. Atleast thats how much I remember someone telling me when I tried buying rims from a member.

shipping wheels and tires is going to cost around $175-$275

for boxes, go to the full service Uhaul/moving truck type place or order online. I found a 27" TV box (for tube tv) that fit 19" wheels and tires. I was able to put two wheels in each box (pretty tight fit). Shipping was about $45 each box to Florida (from Maryland) via Fedex Ground. Obviously, it's going to cost more the further you need them to go.

If you are a friend with a wheel's vendor, have them ship it out of their account and cut them a check. **hint hint**

Make sure you pack it carefully, provide plenty of PADDING materials (air bags or big pieces of padded soft foam - not the Styrofoam) between to protect the lips and inside barrel of the rims so that the cardboards won't collapse inward.

Same thing apply when u put them inside the box, have plenty of padding materials so that the box walls can't collapse inward when they throw, step, or hit with any thing.

The best way of packaging is usually as follow:

A LOT of Padding materials inside wheel barrels and lips (air bags). Double thick cardboard box on BOTH sides of the wheel. Wrap them carefully so that each wheel is covered. Push on the cardboards to make sure that it's stuffed and won't collapsed. Get get a big enough box, but the packaged wheels inside (2 per box). Fill up with air-bags or bubbles. Then sealed the box.

Fedex ground are usually the cheapest. I've shipped 2 BIG and Heavy Boxes and it's only cost me about 120, INSURED for 3500.

Also, make sure to insure the stated amount when ship them.

shipped four wheels from east coast to west coast fed ex a few years ago and was $128. easiest way to package is to tape the lip of the rims, cut eight pieces of round cardboard an in or tow larger than the rims, use binding straps to sandwich the wheels/tires between the two cardboard rounds.

I had 4 wheels shipped from So Cal to Illinois and it was around 110, with each wheel having it's own box.

You want to properly wrap the tires and rims. don't ship them like this.
