Stuck between three tire sizes for the rear. Suggestions please!
So, My Nitto Invo's got eaten up after 16 months, so I'm going to go with a little bit higher of a treadwear. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the Invo's, don't get me wrong, but I don't have money to replace tires every year and a half.
So the ideal tire for me is the BF Goodrich KDW2. I'm only replacing the rear two b/c those are the only ones needing to be replaced.
Stock tires sizes from the factory on my 04 coupe w/ brembos were 245/45/18 with 778 revolutions per mile.
Tire size on it now is 245/40/19 w/ 777 revolutions per mile. (Rays wheels)
My three size choices are:
245/40/19 @ 777 Rev per mile
255/35/19 @ 796 Rev per mile
275/35/19 @ 782 Rev per mile.
Now I should also note with my current tire size (245/40/19 @ 777), the speedometer is reading slightly low, which means if I was going faster than my speedometer, that my tires are covering more distance in any given time than my speedometer is telling me, which means more revolutions per mile would compensate for that margin of error (I would then, in actuality, be going a little bit slower or covering less area in that time given the same speedometer reading as compared to less revolutions per mile).
Please correct me if I"m wrong.
Either way, shoot me some recommendations on the tire size, I want more traction (261 whp dyno'd, CAI, SSV, Test Pipes, Exhaust Bypass, UpRev, JWT clutch & Flywheel). I know that the 275's will cause bulge, and flex in the tire, but how much? And will this unsightly bulge and flex in the tire when turning, be outweighed by the pros of traction? What do you guys think?

Google
Tire Calculater
look for the 10.10 tires link....why? Its the only one that gives you a stock to new comparison, and it offers multiple sizes. So that you can calculate the difference. One thing you need to understand is a tire new vs old has a major speedo difference, at least 2%.
So if you have bald azz fronts and drop slightly larger rears, this calculator will say cool, however actual speedo front to rear might be off more than 3-3.5% giving you all sorts of dashboard holiday colors.
you dont have to be too concerned with the difference if you go larger or smaller on both the front or the back.
For example I ran:
255/30/20F
295/25/21R
they both were slightly taller (bigger overall diameter) than stock..so I had no codes and my ABS still loves me.
Ironically the site is down for a half hour right now for maitenance but should be up after 11am PST
http://www.1010tires.com/
your welcome!
LOL
why 275/30 vs 40
because its the shortest tire (to match the fronts bald when it happens) that gives you the widest contact patch.
Ghetto Suspension 101 = Larger as in (wider) tires is better

Also if you want more out of your tires you have to give up some road noise and time to warm up.
I rock Falken 452s and Nitto 555s they are rated at 300
I get 25,000-30,000 per set with drifting and boosted driving. I get alignments like once every other month, and I still buy tires once a year and I dont effing drive to work. WTH?

I like this one:

Gives you some more details if you're rim shopping and comparing offsets and such...using it on my drag setup search LOL

Thanks Randy.

a little off topic but since we're on the topic of calculators I use this to calculate my RWHP at the track and it actually works REAL good like +/- 2% of a dynojet LMAO!!

I laid down 440+whp last weekend Woooooo

LOL I'm only using my trap speed for the calculation! I compared my run at 8psi to the dyno chart at the same boost and BOTH were exactly 415whp...then I plugged in my run at 10psi and came up with 440whp. But yea, that calculator says with the right tires and driving skill I have an 11's car woot
No doubt, 10psi is pretty much my limit... A/F was 11.3 bank 1 and 11.7 bank 2 the whole run and zero knock...not sure why theres a bank difference but at least it's safe.
