Can I move these rear tires to front?

I just bought a G35 from a private seller. He just got new tires put on the back before he sold it to me. The car already has the stock 19" rims.

I want to buy new rims (19s) and tires, but I think it would be a waste to get rid of the back tires which are are 255/40/19.

My questions:

Can I move the rear tires to the front? Or would they be too big?

I plan to get wider tires for the back and I want to lower the ride about an inch.

Sorry. I am new to all this.

255's should be okay on a 8.5-9.5inch rim so go 9.5 +15 and 10.5 rear +15 and it should look clean

Awesome thanks. I'm guess 8.5-9.5 is the width? What is the +15? (Sorry I'm a n000b)

offset, 9.5 +15 and 10.5 +15 is going to sit really flush. (some may tell me that +15 isn't that flush lol cause some people on here are way to flush for my taste) I'm also not a offset pro like some guys on here.

For the tires on the rear, can I get 275/35 or will the aspect ratio have to be the same as the front (275/40)?

I saw some people on here with 275/35/19s and it looked awesome.

well I'd get 275/35 if i was really low, like 2+ inches lower than stock at the very least...I'm running 225/40/18 and 245/40/18 on 18x8 +30 on my sedan and I'm lowered an inch all around & think I'm going to get 45's next time around because the fender gap looks to big, also messing with ur sidewall height will throw ur speedo off a little so keep that in mind.

255/40/19 are pretty big for tires the front. A 275/40/19 is way to big for your car ( over an inch taller than stock). I would sell the tires and buy a size more suitable.
You can run different aspect ratio's as long as the overall diamter is the close, or within the accetable range. 255/40/19 front and 275/35/19 rear would put your rear tire 1/2 and inch shorter than the front, which would look odd.

255/40/19 on a 9 inch rim +15 wont work for the front on a lowered car you will rub and they are the wrong size. As said above you want to keep them in the same aspec ratio since we are a real wheel drive car and you front tires will look bigger.

I have a friend running 255/35/18 and 285/30/18 on his Z, his fronts don't rub & rears don't rub with his fenders rolled...I've always thought Gcoupe & Z's have the same offsets...

I have 275/35/19 19X10+15 rear and I rubbed bad in the rear rolled my fenders and only rub going in the drive way. I also have a 245/35/19 19x9+15 in the front dropped 2 inches and if I go lower I will rub. You are comparing 18's and 19's with almost the same size tire.

You want to keep the side wall of front and rear the same especially when running after market wheels since people will notice them. I would actually say to run a smaller tire than mine on my wheels which I will do when Im done with these tires because it would look better.

Those are some tiny wheels (24.7" - 25"). Are you sure those are the right sizes? In comparison those 255/40/19 are 27" tall.
You have to factor in the width and offset when figuring out if they will rub.
There was, or still is a coupe on here running 275/30/19 front and rear. He was able to because the offset was right.
