Hello,

I'm about to replace the tires on my G. I have the 19' rays with the horrible bridgstones on them.

What tire do you recommend for all around driving? This car spends most of the time on the highway. The tires need to be good in rain as well. I've been looking at the Continental ExtremeContact DWS.

I would like a directional tread.
What do you recommend ?

when i was going to get the fk452's for my oem 19's i couldnt get the right sizes and ended up with the hankook ventus v12's and i liked them. i bought the warranty with them and everything... a few months into it one of them bubbled out on the sidewall and i got it replaced with the warranty. they did fine in inclement weather in comparison to the stock tires. if you are just driving around, those are fine tires and they are cheap. is there better stuff out there? im sure. my focus was spending the least amount of money possible on tires i was going to just "drive around" on. that said, im keeping and refinishing my oem 19's to be my winter set. i am still going to put the ventus v12's on them. i just bought fk452's for my varrstoens and they are going on this weekend. ill let you know how i like those as well...

 

I've had both the FK452 and the V12, and prefer the V12. Better handling in the wet, a little less in the dry vs the 452. However, once the 452 starts wearing down, they become really LOUD. The V12s are a much quieter tire, and perform better overall than a lot of the other stuff on the market that costs much more.

I had Toyo T1R's then Falken FK452's and now have hankook ventus v12's and they are the best set ive had and there are cheaper than the other two.

 

ive got yokohamas for most of the year and then hankook I*cept evo's for winter. i recommend both haha

 

I haven't experienced many tires but I'm currently running the Yokohama AD-08's and those perform much better then the previous V12's. So far I haven't had any issues with either tire.

 

It really depends on what kind of tire you're looking for and how much you want to spend. I've had pleasant experiences with Falken FK-452 and Bridgestone RE760 for everyday use. I tried some Kumhos and Yokohama S. Drive, and didn't really like those too much.

 

The Conti Extreme DWS is a great tire. Priced right. So popular that you may need to order and wait. I had them on my 06 coupe. I got 15,000 miles before the front showed the normal inside wear. I've since installed SPC camber arms. I think i could double my treadlife with even wear. I replaced them with Michelins but I would recommend Continental.

Good amount of highway driving I'd look to an all season rather than a summer only tire. The DWS, although not directional, would be a really good choice. Yoko's Envigor has been quite popular as well.

 

I have the DWS's as my 19" non winter tires and I have to say they have great tread life.
The sidewalls are a bit soft. My winter Michelin Pilot Alpins I have on now, handle better.
All things considered the DWS's are a great value.

 

I'd say for an all-season a Continental ExtremeContact DWS or Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 is what you're looking for. I bought a set of the Hankooks a year ago and really like those tires.

 

I have the V12 right now. I like them alright, but I much prefer the Toyo T1R. Although, price is always a concern and the Toyo are much more expensive. Toyo were really good priced at www.tiredeals4less.com and thats where i bought my T1Rs.

The last set I got through www.simpletire.com - I'm currently running the Hankook V12. They are ok, but, i know my T1Rs hooked up WAAY better. Check out that site though, they have a bunch of other tires I might try out just based off price alone.

 

I have the Conti DWS... They are great as an all season tire. When I got the car the prev owner had on some Nankang tires... They were HORRIBLE!!! Those tires were so bad I thought I needed wheel bearings!!! As soon as I replaced them the car felt new again! DWS's are great. Dont ever get the Nankangs!!

BTW... I have the 19" stock Rays.
