Angry Absolute nightmare switching to winter tires!!

I have an '03 6MT Coupe. I bought some Blizzak LM-22's from tire rack (mounted on 17" ASA JH3's), and I had them drop shipped to a local tire dealer.

Ignoring the fact that it took forever to take off my summers and put on my winters (already pre-mounted and balanced), I had several really annoying problems.

1.) This is the layout of the first attempt install:
Driver's side: 235 front, 225 rear
Pass side: 225 front, 235 rear

Thank god I actually checked each tire before leaving....I just went to the emplyee and asked him if he could now put my tires on "the correct way". Apparently they "did not realize" that there were two sizes.

2.) I planned on bringing my summer tires home in my car (I live 2 min away). While waiting for the mistake to be corrected, I told them to put some tire bags on my summers, but not to put them in the car, because I brought sheets, towels, etc and knew just where to put them.

Well, they apparently ignored that completly, because they tossed them into my coupe against my request. It was pouring rain out (of course), and the roads were all sanded down for the winter, so my summer tires were very very dirty. And guess what were only half covered making, and hapily making a mess all over my leather interior? Yeah, all four tires.

3.) Like I said, it was raining....hard. When the employee drove my car out of the bay, and into the parking spot, he, for some reason, had both my windows down. And wouldn't you know it, my interior was soaked!!

I spent 20 minutes cleaning and drying up my car's interior (no way I trust them to do it after all that).

Got it for free, but who cares, it was gonna be cheap anyways. And yelling at the guys wasn't much fun.

It's all clean, and good now, but just thought I'd vent and share my story. Next time I am just going to my buddies house.

Tire Performance

How do the LM22's perform in the snow? I'm considering the same wheel / tire package.

Um, this wasn't really about Tire Rack, but yeah, it was one of Tire Racks "recommended installers". I already left feedback on Tire Rack's site for this installer.

Dave, it's suppose to snow tonight, so if it does I'll let you know how they perform. As for the wheels, the JH3's look awesome. Very close to OEM.

Good, I was going to recommend leaving feedback on our site. The installer will get a phone call from our installer department about the situation.

It may have been an oversight or an honest mistake by the store's employee to install the wheel/tire set wrong as they may be similar in size. But it is unexcusable to have 4 dirty tires thrown in the client's backseat. The last straw was leaving the windows down when it was raining. That seemed malicious and has no place in any customer service oriented business. You should have received an apology, not have been charged for the service, and you should be offered to have your interior detailed.

Just got the LM-22's from TireRack in only 3 days, very happy. If I wasn't in such a hurry to watch the Eagles, I would have known to remove the bolt on the front 2 rotors ahead of time. Thank GOD for this forum, saved my a@# again... lol. We're getting dumped on right now, predicting 10-14" of snow tonight. I don't think I'll be plowing though that in my coupe, but I'll keep you all posted in performance.

IMO Blizzak LM22's are the best snow tire for our cars out there.

Tips.
- Get a second set of wheels (ebay) for winter or summer setup.
-- Miminizes risk of damaging wheels from changeover and saves money on tire changes.
- Ensure tire shop has plastic protective wheel lips to take off/install tire.
- Ensure shop knows about different size rims/tires. Granted there's only one way to install the wheel onto the car (protective bolts up front precludes 245's being installed there), but they could still put a tire on the wrong wheel (as discussed above).
