Replacement tire suggestions?

Hi All,

I've got an '04 coupe with the stock 18" rims from Infiniti. Currently on my 2nd set of tires. Dealer advises treads are down to 2mm,so time for replacement. Suffice to say that this is not a welcome expense at this time, so would really appreciate any advice for which tires I should get, keeping in mind bang for the buck. On one hand I am willing to spend a little extra if it means enough longer tire life to justify the extra expense, but on the other hand I'm not sure how much longer I will be keeping this car - I'm guessing about two years at this point but it could be longer.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

+1 for the DWSes. Put some on my sister's car and really liked them. For the price they're a great all-season tire and they should last you a while as long as your car is aligned and you don't beat on them all day.

Vmr, I just ordered some kumho ecsta 4x based on rave reviews on tire rack and other places. What is your take on these over the dws? I heard the dws have soft sidewalls and you have to overinflate to get them stiff enough for performance driving.

Best bang for the buck is the DWS as above. Great "Jack of all trades" tire that's been very popular with G owners. I'd say the 4X is a tad quieter during driving, cheaper, and slightly better riding. However, the DWS has better a/s ability, tad better life, and does better in snow.

I've never driven on the Kumhos before, but I think either one would be a good choice. The DWSes have a pretty soft sidewall, but they felt pretty stable on my sister's car. Overall I was pretty impressed with them for an all-season.

^For summer performance tires they are great for the price. Won't last quite as long as an all-season tire would though.
