I have a 2004 g35 coupe currently with oem rims.

I'm thinking of getting new rims and tires with the following specs: 18x8.5 5x114.3 40et

I also plan on lowering it with the S-Tein springs which drops the ride 1.2"/0.9"

My question is, roughly, what spacer size would i need to get (for front and the rear) in order for the car to look flush or slightly under that? I'm just afraid after I lower it and with such high offset the car would look hideous.

I may not have posted this in the right place but im simply just looking for an answer.

You should try and get wheels that are the right offset so you don't need spacers!

 

Oh wow. You'd have to run big spacers to make them flush. Those offsets are more for sedans. Look for rims with a lower offset

 

what offset would you recommend? If that's the case i'll look for another set of rims.

 

spacers on stock lugs risk a wheel coming off.
if you do put spacers, make sure the lug nut completely turns 5 TIMES to ensure your wheel won't call off on the freeway ha.

 

Running the right spacers is fine if you have no other choice. If you were doing OEM wheels you would have to for the right look. But you should not be buying wheels that you will definitely NEED them for. Find wheels with off sets between +15 an +25. Also, remember that your car is rear wheel drive and your new set up would benefit from buying the right sizes in terms of looks and performance. Rear wheels should always be wider, 8.5 up front 9.5 in the back. Lastly, get your rear fenders rolled to avoid any potential rubbing issues.

 

Sizing isn't really ideal for a coupe. Are these for a winter set of wheels?

A trick question; you don't state what tires profile will you choose with a 40 et. (if you are forced to 40et to start off by choice or cost limits).

Safely, 25mm spacers F&R will get you close with that 1.2" drop and the tire selection. At least better looking and firmer riding.
On a 04 coupe stock fender flares maybe more like 30mm range may be needed, I only estimate. Expect camber wear on any tire selection without further alignment parts mods.

I have slab sided 03 sedan with no extra fender flare to deal with like the coupe. Sedan for 03,04 is about 6mm easier per side to hit flush fit(narrower). I run 20mm F and 25mm R, 2 1/2 drop and rock on flush with fenders rolled. Nice stance and ride but significant neg camber.
Take your time to decide.
On the practical side this is something for you to do while in the high flying 4x4 setup.
Try a dropping a plumb bob string line off the fender face and "imagine" (where your future tire shoulder fits) & all of what is to come when you make the mod. Use a tape measure from the string back you your stock tire sidewall / shoulder. I'll guess that measurement alone will be close to 30mm and close to where your new wheel choice will end up since the 40et is like OEM.
