How dangerous can this be??

There is a vibration on the steering wheel starts from 80mph, Borrowed some jacks and found this:

Left Front Tire Gouge 1:

Left Front Tire Gouge 1 at different angle:

Left Front Tire Gouge 2: (Gouge 1 and 2 are almost diagonal from each other)

Size: 72.0 KB

Right Front Tire Gouge 1: (Right Front only has one gouge)

The car is an 03, with 65k miles(it's a weekend car), has Tein Basic. Front tire size is 245/35ZR19 mounted on 8.5 inches wide rims, offset is +15.

I searched and found many threads regarding to camber wear but nothing resembles this level of uneven-ness Really wondering what's causing these.

I could be completely wrong but it looks like a belt is separating under the rubber. I'm 51 and have never seen a tire that looks like that, I'd take it to a shop for a professional opinion.

Nitto NeoGen tires? I'd have them inspected as Blue Dream suggests, those look defective to me. Not sure what kind of warranty Nitto offers, but I'd look into it.

If that was normal camber wear, or bad toe specs, they would be worn all the way around.

Springs installed without alignment?

Makes me shudder to think of going 80 MPH with these tires in that condition! Even if those tires are defective the tire company won't cover them because of your alignment issues. hipvspec, you must have been one of those members that believed you could lower your G without a camber kit or alignment....pic show the results. Now you need new tires, SPC or SPL camber kit and an alignment. Would have been less costly had you done it right in the beginning....less learned! (maybe)

As a general rule of thumb: if there is a vibration, then something is wrong. I don't care what brand or make those tires are, they are ZR rated which means they should be able to handle 80 mph without any issues at all.

That's definitely a defect and not any kind of tire wear, you should check with wherever you got the tires from or even the manufacturer to see if you can get them replaced under warranty.

I really should. First time to hear tire can have this type of failure

Could worn suspension bushings do this? These tires are a few years old so I doubt they will warranty the thing, but I think it would be good for them to look into it for the interest of product and consumer safety.

I really didn't know they were worn in such dangerous manner because the gouges are hidden into the inner edge. My car aren't really low though, it's lower by about 2cm because I have some very Mount-Everest speed bump at where I live. Can minor lowering still cause serious damage like this?

I have new tires ordered. Once these come off the car I will cut them open and post photos here as a forum resource, hoping no other member will drive their tires into this shape

yeah I could picture them defensively defensing themselves. I am slightly concern about worn suspension parts causing these

Those are failed tires. Worn suspension would behave like a mis-alignment. I other words the tires would be trashed symmetrically around the inside. Those don't look like the tires were rubbing on any suspension parts either.

Quick search turned up Nitto's tire warranty: http://www.nittotire.com/Content/pdf...20Warranty.pdf

You have 60 months, and free replacement for the first 25% of tread wear. Anything past that can be prorated, you just need to find an authorized Nitto dealer.

u need to check your clearance from the strut/ damper perch to the rear tire too. u cud be maxing out on a dip and shoving the tire into something back there.

That's real close to where the tread slab would be molded into the sidewall. Lots of stress in that area. I would replace it.

How about an honest answer? When you installed the springs did you get your G aligned? Worn suspension parts won't show the wear these tires have, this is an alignment issue and no tire company will replace them because of it...regardless of warranty! Somewhere in the warranty you'll find the words "Normal Wear" and this is far, very far from normal.

Thanks for digging that info up I already contacted them and emailed photos to them. I will post updates. There is no penalty for trying right?

Honestly, when I put on those springs, no alignment was done. But after the installation of the Tein basic coils, I had the alignment done at a now-defunct local Infiniti dealership. The springs was on the car for about 60 miles before being swapped out for coils(the G is not a DD). I am not sure how good of a job the dealership did, but after the wheels and coil install, the car felt fine at any speed for a few years until 6 months ago when the vibrations started to appear at 80mph.Thank you for the feedback though. I will file the tires to Nitto and check for alignment again as well and post updates here.
