Nail in Tire ... Am I screwed?

Hey guys, I ran over a nail today and just wanted some opinions on whether it can be patched and what the odds are that it may not have even punctured all the way through. Of course I literally just bought these tires 3 weeks ago!

It's a non tread area it shouldn't be an issue. Call your local tire shop and get s quote.

Pull that sucker out, it didn't even penetrate the tire. Your fine.

If it isn't leaking now, odds are that it won't leak when you pull it out (famous last words). If it does leak, you are probably hosed...shops will not patch side wall punctures, only those through the tread area.

I can't believe a member would post something like this, don't they have any automotive knowledge or common sense? Take it to a tire shop, they'll submerge in water and look for leaks. If it does leak they won't patch it in that area! You're not the first one this happened to, nor the last...sadly!

I see you're wearing Falken PT-722 all season tires. How do you like them.

you can patch that your self, no biggie. Most tire shops will obviously not patch it, but you can still talk to one of the guys in the shop and he might do it for you.

Just because I'm a member doesn't mean I know everything about cars! I just wanted some second opinions and you guys have provided a lot of help to me in the past. I did end up pulling it out today and don't think it's leaking so I believe I'm all good! I will probably take it to a shop tomorrow though just to double check.

There the 2nd set I've bought so I'm happy with them! Reasonably priced and good traction.

Pull it out and spray it with some soapy water and look for air bubbles. No tire place will patch something on the sidewall though.

That's right where the tires tread cap is molded to its sidewall, so its a seam area. Usually the reason most shops wont repair a tire with damage there.
