Question about Tire Size and Noise
I've done quite a bit of searching and browsing, but I'm not finding a concrete answer to my question.
First discount tire direct used to list an alternate config for the G35 Coupe w/18" rims of 245/40 front and 275/40 rear. That recommendation isn't there any more and I was wondering what the verdict on something like this might be.
Also, what have people actually had good luck with being a reasonably quite tire. My Pilots are so loud I just can't stand it any more and I'd guess they still have 40% wear left. I'd like to get back to where I was when the car was new and I'd like it to stay that way for more than 12K miles.
Thanks for sharing!

i just ordered new tires (Eagle F1). The size I bought was 245/40/18 and rear is 245/45/18. If you are looking for a quiet tire, you can check out the Yokohama AV Db, those tires are really quiet. However, the size available is 245/40/18 and 255/45/18 and handling won't be as good.
Pretty much any performance tire you put on the car will get louder as the tire wears. It's the trade off for the performance you are getting.
If you are will to sacrifice performance you can look into a high performance tire (instead of the maximum performance Pilot Sports). You can also take a look into all season tires.
A third option is to install dynamat sound deadening/dampening materials.

OK, I accept that performance tires will always be louder, but what I have now is insane! I've read from others that agree that the Pilots are really loud. I'm really looking for reactions from others that have had other types of tires on their car for a while.
Also does anyone have these larger tires on their stock rims? If so do the fit and look right? From an appearance stand point the car could use a little more meat all around.
