DPE, Whats the deal

I ordered some variant 7 20 inches about a million years ago, or so it is now beginning to feel. Now I hear that they have recently increased the prices of their rims. Can somone help me understand why a company that claims to have so many orders backed up is raising their prices. Seriously, I understand the demand for their products but their delivery of such products is very poor. I went from being told that I would wait 4 to 6 weeks to now going into week 13. Can anyone give me some insite on what is really going on and is their any way around the wait. What can I do to put some pressure on them or should I just cancell the order.

Having back orders, and raisings prices do not go hand in hand... prices have increased due to an increase in material cost, not because they are behind. Your price for your set does not change so there is not effect to your order. Please call your rep, and have them check on the status of your order.

That's correct. Anyone who sells items to the public MUST honor the purchase price no matter what, however they can raise prices on new orders.

You ordered custom made wheels, and they are going to take a long time to make. Trust me just wait for them. You will totally forget the wait on the day they arrive. It's starting to sound like the old iforged gripe.

I did the same thing. I actually placed an order for DPEs despite my qualms about all the bad press they've been getting on a lot of forums regarding lead times. But then, my conscience got the best of me and I cancelled my order and went with iForged instead.

These were some of the things that drove me away from DPE:
--long lead times
--limited selection of widths in the 19" range
--really high premiums to stray from their already limited selection of widths (for "custom" rims nonetheless!)
--they didn't answer a single e-mail that I sent them, while iForged promptly answered every single one of mine in great detail
--DPE's 2 pc rims are welded, which would make rim repair or refinishing kind of a pain in the future (w/o sending to them)

I have nothing personal against DPE...they seem like they have a quality product and that they are going through growing pains right now due to their sudden and recent popularity (like iForged when they began) -- I just felt like I would avoid a lot of headaches (plus I like the looks of the iForged over the comparable DPE).

Regarding DEM SUGA's question about cancelling -- don't you lose your deposit if you cancel now? Even if you were to theoretically get your deposit back, you would probably still need to wait 6 - 8 weeks minimum to go with another brand of custom rims, but hopefully, your DPEs will be ready before that. I know that doesn't really help you, but hopefully that makes it a little easier to wait?

13 weeks? DAMN! I can NEVER wait that long... sheesh i figured a few weeks would already be bad enough. I feel really bad for anybody who has to wait that long for wheels.

I dont know if you are just being PC or not but I have noticed you posting similiar responses in a couple of threads regarding DPE lately....As one of the people who is beng affected by this..I would like to point out somthing obvious that you are overlooking...If all the orders were waiting 12+ weeks that would be one thing..But when people who ordered their wheels a month or more after me are getting their wheels and I'm still waiting there's a problem...

Well it also depends. What kind of setup did you order? And where did you order your DPE's from?

if you dont wanna share here, pm me.

I was told by Mike @ DPE that there was a problem caused by "The recent increase of volume production and cost, we ran into a situation where blank forgings were in shortage."

I think of the things that annoys me the more about the entire DPE situation is that they do not return my phone calls. I have left messages and have actually spoken to people who said that they would call me back but no one does. If they are havin problems delivering their products, then good customer service might make up for their poor lead times. I understand their increased popularity, but they are now puting that in jeopardy with poor customer service and unrealistic lead times. 4 to 6 weeks my a**.
