Hey, I need tires for my new 18" OEM wheels. on Tirerack, the only allseason tires that they have on there are the Avon 550s, which actually got extremely good reviews. I am upgrading from the 17" OEM wheels with All season Potenzas on them. The Avons look to be a great price (will come out to 550 for all 4 tires + shipping) Does anyone have any experience with them? Im somewhat strapped for cash, and tirerack doesent even list any other A/S tires for the 18" G35 OEM size: 225/45-18 and 245/45-18.

Is it possible to go with other sizes? If anyone could give some suggestions on this situation, it would be greatly appriciated. I really dont have much knowledge when it comes to tires, since I always just rebought the stock tires in the past, but since I am changing wheel size, this is obviously different. I'd prefer a smoother ride to a rougher ride, even if it means somewhat sacrificing handling since I do like 98% straight highway/turnpike driving.. allthough handling is still a concern.

Continental Extremecontact 245/40/18 front 245/45/18 rear. Avons are a good, but very heavy tire.

Thanks for the suggestion. Those will work with those sizes? What are the differences between that and stock sizes? I checked out tirerack for some reviews and only one person had those for their coupe.

The only difference is that the front tires are now as wide as the rear yet still maintain the same diameter as the 225/45/18s. Handling will be more neutral than the stock setup. Someone on freshalloy is running that setup actually if you want to do a search. Another plus is that the extremecontacts are fairly inexpensive and very highly rated on tirerack.

The Toyos look good too. Actually arent all that expensive either. I think i'm going to lean towards the Continentals though since they are a little cheaper.

The thing is, stock specs are 225/45 and 245/45..

The TOYOS come in 225/40 and 245/40.. Are there any sacrifices or differences if I were to order them in that size?

The speedometer will be a little off, the car will be a little lower to the ground, and the tire won't fill the wheel well as well due to its smaller size.

I would stick to the stock specs as if you differ from them, your stability control system will not work properly. Dont change to diameter of the tires if you have stability control.

I'd like to stick to the specs, but TOYO or Continental all season tires arent even made in the specs.. The only Ultra High Performance All Season tires that are spec are the Avon 550s. That cant possibly be all I am limited to.. am I the only one here who has put all season tires on the 18s?

I went with the Continentals with 235/40X18 Front and 245/45X18 rear. I wasn't worried about spec which, as you see, is hard to stay within.

Why the 235? Did they not have 225s? So it still feels the same? Handling is as good and everything?

I dont really know how much this all matters.. My Vette has 18" in the back and 17" in the front and it handles like a dream.

How do you like the tires by the way? Is it smooth?

The front sizing was the closest to match the stock profile. I really don't notice any difference in handling except that I can now drive in "some" snow vs. none at all with the stock.
