to those who want better handling without lowering..my suspension installed...

ok so I finally got my tein basics and the rear SPC camber/toe kit install. It took me a few hours to install so it wasn't too bad. Basic tools with a couple jacks did the job.

I wanted to install it now and not have to worry about camber so I set the height right at stock height until i get front camber kits. Actually it can be set HIGHER than stock height but i don't know why anyone in their right mind would do that. I can already feel the difference in spring rates since the basics are about 200lbs harder than oem.

The handling is much better than stock even though it's not lowered. It virtually eliminated most of the body roll from the stock suspension.

So those of you that don't want to worry about scraping everywhere but want better handling overall, go for the tein basics. A+

as for the install.. you don't have to unbolt the front sway bar. and for the rear you don't have to take off the rear toe bolt if you're installing just the springs.

here are a few pictures....

One question...I'm new to coilovers/dampers....Specifically with the Basics...could you lower it only 1" all around? Would that mess up the camber? TIA for the info!

you can lower way past 1" if you want. 1" is no problem. As for camber it's pretty different for everyone. IMO i'd rather not lower it until i get the front camber kit just to be safe. I don't want to spend money on tires right now when i don't have to.

awesome coilovers for sure...while they are new. My fiance has em on her IS300 and after about a year and half, the coilovers have become very bouncy, as if the gas or oil(not sure whats inside of em) have failed. Its dropped about 1.5 all around and she only drives to school and around town(no road racing or anything like that). We even adjusted the damper setting to something a little stiffer to hopefully prevent the long range bouncing, but it just made it worse. Hopefully the ones for the G35 are designed better, and i'm hopeful you won't run into these problems at stock height.

But Tein tell's us that you cannot install Basics on a G35 coupe without at least a .7" front drop. Granted they can be installed with the rear set to no drop, but not the front. Basics installed on a sedan have a minimum front drop of 1.6"

Its interesting to see posts on Tein lately. There seems to be a lot of controversy about wheather they are good quality or not.

and why would you need a toe/camber kit if you're not lowered?

I was expecting a thread using stock springs and aftermarket
dampers (koni, d-specs, etc).

Follow the link and read the chart.

Tein basics when installed on a G35 coupe will lower the front of the car .7" when set at the max ride height settting. Of course at a .7" front drop a coupe should be within oem camber specs.

maybe my car is a freak? or maybe it hasn't settled. Before I installed the basics I measured the wheel gap. When I finished the install it was the same.
