Tire Pressure Sensors
I am going to be switching from my oem 18's to oem 19s in the upcoming week. I was wondering what is the process of transferring the tire pressure sensors from one set of rims/tires to the next?
Thanks
Thanks
Yes, the sensor is part of the valve stem assembly, so that will have to be transfered over to your new rims. One of the things to look out for is where the valve stem hole is located on your new rim, and what the contour of the wheel is on the inside. Ideally, you want the sensor [looks like a small box] to lie down as flat as possible against the inside of the wheel. If it is sticking straight up / out, then when they go to mount the tire to the rim, it may hit and snap it off from the valve stem portion. This is why some people end up not installing the TPS, but then have the error light to deal with.

Thanks for the information. Would anyone happen to have any pictures of this on the valve assembly? It should be easy to transfer over to OEM 19's i'm assuming, right?
You didn't mention which wheel you were getting, but a word of caution. The TPMS will NOT mount on most 2 or 3 piece wheels. And if your wheels are 1-piece, there must be a tapered approach on the rim towards the valve stem so that the valve stem comes out at a roughly 45 deg angle. If the valve stem on your rim comes out perpendicular, you won't be able to mount the TPMS sensors.

I mentioned in the first post of the thread that I'm putting on the OEM 19's. I know that the tire sensors will fit, but was just wondering of the process. Thanks for the precaution though.
For those of you who have taken the tires off your orginal rims, taken the sensors out, placed them in new rims, and had those rims and tires mounted and balanced.....how much did it come to.. My rims should be arriving on Thursday, and want to know how much to expect a local tire shop to charge me. I'm under the impression that I'll basically be using the valves from the original 18's which are connected to the tire sensors, but will I be needing anything else?
Thank you ahead of time
