What set of tires would you go with outta this bunch? Plz help!!

Im off to college in about 2 weeks and I need to get tires A.S.A.P. to replace my OEM stock tires (245/45 18 and 225/45 18). I am on a budget and have narrowed it down to these tires:

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

Yokohama AVS ES100

Avon Tech M550 A/S

Ive read hundreds of reviews already and its hard to pick because they all receive similar ratings and comments. Im swaying towards the Avon's right now because of slightly better reviews and cost.

The OEM Michelin Pilots are a P.O.S. They were good for the first 10k mi. then they started being gay. The noise is unbearable on them now @ 21k mi. Outta the bunch listed above, which would be the best all round tire (noise, performance, tread life)? I live on the west coast btw, so no snow or harsh driving conditions for the most part.

THANKS!!

i'd get the BF's. i don't like Yoko's, and the Avon is too different for me.

I'd put on the Avon tires if road noise is a concern. My Pilots were terrible and I replaced them with some Bridgestone S-03's that make a lot of noise too as they wear. I'm going with an A/S tire the next time. These summer high performance tires just make too much noise for me to enjoy driving the car. I'll gladly sacrifice a bit of handling for a quite ride. The Avon's are cheap enough too compared with the OEM or the Bridgestones.

Have you looked at Falken GRB FK-451? I picked up some rears this weekend for $190 a piece. Handles just as good as the Pilots to me.

You may want to check the treadwear on the Yoko's. If I remember correctly, it's pretty low.

I just got the BFG's about 2k miles ago.

They are at least on par with the OEM pilots. My only complaint is under hard cornering they are LOUD AS ALL HELL. Its not the noise that bothers me, its the fact that anyone (i.e. any COP) anywhere close by would hear them and think I'm going twice as fast as I am and pull me over. And in Irvine, CA thats a very possible problem. If I had heard them before I bought them I would not have got them.

But if you have the $$$$ get Pilot Sport 2's. Drove a bimmer with them and it was like the tires were made of glue.

I agree with MyCynical...nothing beats the PIlot Sport 2's. They are truly stuck to the road. Ive got them on my baby... now if your going 18's, DEF get the Kumho MX. Doesn't come in 19's yet, but in 18's i say they are just one step lower than the Pilot Sport 2's and for half the price. ive driven on most major tires, Pzero, GSD3, Kumho Mx, Dunlop Direzza, Fm901, PIlot Sports, and Pilot Sport 2's. Nothing comes close to the PS2's and the Kumho MX

Yea i wish i could afford the Pilot 2s but im a frickin college student!!! Need to save $.

I know Avon isn't a prevalent brand among tires, but the reviews sound promising and the price is luring me. They get slightly higher ratings than the BFGs, but then again BFG is probably a better quality brand. Hmmm.........im thinkin ill give Avon tires a chance and see how they go.
